$20 a month is too much money. I will not play age of conan if the price is that high. Alot of people aren't thrilled with the current standard of $15. $20 is just going to make people even less thrilled.

Go with the Flow? In case you haven't noticed you and your idea are the only two swimming upstream with this idea of yours. If anyone should be going with the flow its you, your swimming upsteam...unless you are a Salmon, this is usually a bad idea. |

Funcom is a commercial company. To offer to pay a higher monthly fee as customer is simply a bad deal. Especially without knowing what the endresult will be. A commercial company wont feel a commitment to such generosity. You have no way of telling that your offer to pay 5$ more a month will improve something. The op is either a troll or stupid. The comment about the snicker bars make me suspect he is a troll.

ANYWAY, how will paying 20 bucks a month make this a better game AFTER its already finished? Your argument is we should pay more for a better game. Well if we were investors, alright then, because then all our funding could go into pre-production, art creation, model and texture development, game engine etc etc....but OOOPS, its already finished.
Would you pay 500K for a house you've only seen pictures of? Of course not, you need to see the neighborhood, the schools, and everything that goes with it. So why are you petitioning for a higher monthly fee on a game you've never played, in teh hopes with it make it a better game, only afters its already finished? /gives OP back his Troll fishing Poll (if you catch any other Salmon swimming upstream, throw em back, it might be a cousin) |

Pound-for-pound, MMOGs are an incredible entertainment value. Even if you're not willing to admit it, you know it's true. I would gladly pay $20 a month for the "right" game, but not for AoC. |

Originally posted by VinadilI'm scratching my head here.Yes, it makes sense for you to choose the BMW,but getting an offer like that makes no sense at all to me. Who would offer that kind of a deal? Remember , supporting a higher monthly fee for Age of Conan could be a very good thing for the whole genre. I'm not part of the development team so i just can't start listing things so that potential subscribers can justify paying a few extra dollars per month. I'm sure Funcom has a very talented team that could creatively market a Premium MMORP Experience. We will only get better MMOs in the future if we show we will pay more believe me they will supply us with better mmorpgs. With gamers getting older and older,I feel there will definately be a market for Premium Online Multiplayer Games. These Games could charge a much higher than standard $10-15 per month and offer that much more in terms of content, game performance, customer service, etc etc. $19.95 per month is just the beginning of bigger and better things for all of us gamers.Someone has to start it.I think Age of Conan could be the one that started it all. There will always be free mmorpgs and games that charge little less than the best, for those of you that can't afford it and for all you cheapskates. Technology is on their side,I am on their side. And now i ask you all to see the light, Join me and support paying a little extra for a whole lot more. |

This game looks good but I don't see anything to indicate it will be better than other fantasy MMOs currently in development or recently released. The game will not have FFA PvP, Corpse Looting, Player Housing, or various other things important to win a "top spot" in my book. Also, I've read that raiding will be practically be a requirement at higher levels if you want to be competetive.... NOOO THANKS, I got my fill of that in WoW (I hated being forced to depend on 40 other players who are power-tripping, drunk, immature, or just plain don't know what they're doing.) Some people argue AoC will have a better PvP model? Take a look at Huxley if you wanna see a sweet MMOFPS pvp model. Some people say it will be a more open PvP system where tactics and environment can be employed? I agree there, this game does appear to be good in that respect. But take a look at Darkfall (if it's ever released). And if Darkfall isn't ever released, Fallen Earth will have a PvP model similar to or better than AoC in my opinion. (plus, it's not another FANTASY game... jeez, am I the only one sick of FANTASY MMOs? Sci-Fi will be a good change of pace!) Bottom line though... AOC looks like it will be a worthy game, but certainly not good enough to command a higher monthly fee than the standard $15. (Besides, it's another fantasy game! Aren't we sick of all these fantasy clones yet???) There isn't a perfect game in development in my opinion. The closest to perfect of anything out there is in Darkfall (another fantasy game)... but it's been in development for about 6 years, so I guess we'll just have to keep waiting. The only plus side to increasing the monthly fee... it would deter nub kiddies from subscribing. But the down side of a higher monthly fee is that the overall subscriber base would be much smaller (with so many similar games to choose from, who would choose to play the expensive one?) and this could ultimately spell doom for the success of this game. - Phos |

Originally posted by Supernerd The market is oversaturated because of the high amount of competition, thanks for making my point. The fact that its crap doesnt change that. I never said I was opposed to paying more, I said why I didnt think it would happen. You didnt have an answer to any of my points. Lastly, what makes you think paying more for a game = better game? If anything has been proven by the increase in game prices over the last 10 years, it is the contrary. From '97 - '01 most games cost $10 and had comparable service, if not better service than the current $15 games do. So why would the next $5 be any different?

i can understand why you would think i'm nuts for suggesting a higher monthly fee. Why the hell should we be playing allmost 1 USD a day to a play we allready payed for once ? , for maintance you say, right yea that makes sense but if they think they can buck up the price now, every other company will just follow up on it and i think that blizzard makes more than enough of the general mmo player, limit is 15$ usd and i won't pay more so they can get a better paycheck, they allready live on your income , why contribute more to it ? |
