LOL now thats not a hobby thats an obsession

Yes you can get a good rig for under $1000 this is what i just bout

AMD X2 5200+

4 gigs of Kingston ram

8600gt 1024 mb vid card

250gb hard drive

Gigabyte am2 motherboard (supporting 16gb of ram)

Icute gaming case with 12 inch fan on side of case (big enough to fit in my car)

Came with Vista Home prem

500w PS

And all this cost me just under 600 Australian Brand new with Warranty

So thats $550 U.S,   $351 Euro's

And this machin plays everygame i have at maximum setting with maximum FPS i have not tried Crysis yet as this game tbo does not appeal to me and i knwo that MMO's are a bloody long way from being like that so i find it irrelevant to need to judge my machine against it. :)

forever we will remember, forever forgotten it will be not.

Christ OP why not just go to the dollar store, seriously if you are going to be that cheap ass I hope your PC starts on fire. PSUs with low quality will start on fire it has happen and if you are not spending more than $50 on a PSU you are taking your life/home/pc in your own hands. Also a cheap ass motherboard isn't going to get you anywhere specially rail speeds/access speeds you are only dumbing down your performance of everything else by doing this and fail fail FAIL, one day you'll turn on your pc and boom oops wont turn on, gee guess you shouldn't have bought a dumpster motherboard.

To give this advice to newbies is laughable you are only causing them a world of pain by telling them they can go out and buy a cheap ass dumpster PC and run AoC which at it's current listing will not run it well you'll be lucky if you get 10-15fps due to the processor speed and the lack of ram, remember ram is go in online games. Oh noes I got lag, whats the first word out of everyones mouth "BUY MORE RAM!" need at least 2gigs or well speed ram, your ram listed is dumpster ram extremely wildly moronic speeds.

Ugh /rant off, do your research more. And for god sakes people don't follow his foot steps, you can can get a great gaming PC for under $1000 but his POS would be like throwing your money down the toilet.

if i really tried i could get a DX10 computer capable of running AoC for around $600 or $700.  my machine that i got for AoC was around $1200-$1300 and is quite a decent machine.  $2000 down here (Australia) would be a monster of a machine if you got it off the net, or at my local computer shop, a computer that can barely connect to the internet.

You go to college, pick up 100-200k student loan debt.  Buy a new house and add 300-500k debt.  Get a car 30-40k debt.  Get a cell phone... get a cell phone for you wife.... 100 bucks a month.  Get internet... get cable... get your wife pregnant.

I'm sorry but kids like you always crack me up.  Those of us who really do live in the real world v/s working at the mall and saving pennies for a computer are not going to lay out a lot of money for a new "gaming" rig.  It's not because we don't have good jobs or because we don't make a lot of money.  It's just that we spend a lot of money on other things.

An MMO is a different monster than the old Counterstrike games.  Counterstike could make it just by selling to 20 year olds who worked at the mall and put their big 2k into a computer.  An MMO has to have a large player base who can send in 15-20 bucks a month to keep playing.  W/O having access to a large audience  IMMEDIATELY, v/s 2-3 years down the road, the cost of upgrading the game and the cost of servers will turn the game into a "Vanguard."

That's just the way it goes.

Vista is cursed...and guarantee you it will be replaced or had have a MAJOR overhaul before xp stops getting support in 2014. If it wasn't for DX10 Vista would have been dead and buried already.

Whatever!  I have been using Vista since it went public and with a few driver issues at first .. it has been running smooth ever since.  Vista had less problems than XP when it came out.  But I am sure you wont believe me.  I honestly dont care, I just wanted to make sure others know that Vista DOES work

Vista had less bugs than XP? 2 years on it still has bugs and compatability issues and requires 15% more CPU and RAM than XP - Vista doesn't work which is why 86% still use XP.

I've heard all the issues with vista and how it sucks, but i can honestly say i haven't had an issue with anything.  Of course i did buy a brand new computer so maybe that has something to do with it...

See, I'm not trying to offend you here.. but how is it my problem that you went and put yourself into over a half million dollars in debt and then after that, decided to have kids.  Now if you have enough money to buy a 300-500G house, then you have enough money to spend 2-3g on a real gaming computer.

I don't know where you get this BS about how I'm just a kid that doesn't know anything about life,  so I'll set you straight.  I work a $10/hour job, 40 hours a week.  I have my own apartment, my own car, I pay my own bills.. which include gas, electric, cell phone, internet TV/cable, car insurance, etc.  AND I have my own cat which I have to provide for.  However, I didn't go and do things that I wasn't financially able to do like you.  I have still spent 2 grand in the past 6 months that I've saved and I plan to spend a little bit more in the next few months before AoC is released.  Now how did a poor person like me afford a really nice computer?  Because I'm not an idiot that gets himself into debt and can't pay my way out of it.  By the way, I don't even have much credit, what's your excuse?

If I can do this at my "mail" job.  I'm sure you can do it at your 100G's a year job.  Don't give me your elitist BS.
