I could agree with you xasapis about bugs, I would easly overlook bugs if the overall game is exciting.

I can't handle :

      poor coding

      poor content

      low population

      too much zoning

      too many cut scenes

in that order.

Never hold discussions with the monkey when the organ grinder is in the room. -Winston Churchill

 lol Marmag!

I take it that his info. is based in some fact.  Facts so outdated as to be a more of source of amusement than anything else.  Other parts seem to be complete fabrications compared to official info. and vids by Funcom, released to all the major MMO sites.

My only comment to him is; 'To bad you and/or your buddies broke the NDA 'months' ago using, at or below lowend spec'ed pc's, and that you were obviously caught leaking info. and perma-banned by Funcom.  You'll be missed.' .../sarcasm off

The so called 'Carebear' keeps were never meant for pvp as they're hard earned and you'll need one of those before you get into battlekeeps.  The crafting/guild bonuses from pve keeps seem to be important aspects for later pvp sieges.

Seeing an unfair advantage in the destruction of a battlekeep in pvp combat is ridiculous, that's what they're for. ...They go up, they come down.

There's everything right upto Legendary drops in the game and I'll bet they'll hold true to their name.  But, yeah, the highend, crafted, socketed items will be sought after by all, at some point.

There's mounts in the game.../pause'n'think  The claims that your closed in, like a mime doing his skit on a street corner. at every turn, is foolish.

Again, if you did get to be CB tester for AoC, it was a wasted key, and you should've played through Tortage and then watch the game areas progressively expand.

All of this info. is easily gained by going to the AoC site and reading it's contents and by watching the official vids.

No MMO title has ever launched as a finished, bug free product.  There's no reason to expect this ever happening.  ..Deal with it.

Last, name a single established MMO review site/mag. that backs these negative claims.

You are indeed right, they got burned once by a very bad release. To their credit they turned the game around and made one of the best futuristic MMOs out there. Unfortunately, they never recovered from that early loss of momentum.

Whether they learned by that mistake or the mistakes and successes of others, remains to be seen. Personally, I expect tons of bugs and problems in the beta. Especially the closed one, since I suppose the open ones have long ago deteriorated to just free marketing and a last minute stress test. What I don't expect to see is those bugs, especially the ones affecting everyday gameplay, to reach the released game. If they do, I'll be disappointed for sure.

AO's  launch was... hard
but this game is great .

AOC can be full of bugs but a great game, as lotro is polished but (imo) a boring game.  We"ll see. Maybe AOC gonna be a full success. Who knows ? Not even the dev I think.

AOC is not ready for release, it's buggy and even when you run the game using a 8800 Ultra you get rubberbanding and a high amount of lag; were talking about 15FPS here on high end systems. There's not enough content, PVP drops suck, Guilds who have the "Carebear" city tucked away in an instance can enter the boarder kingdoms, PvP guilds that build a city in Boarder Kingdoms can't go and retalliate against Carebears because dumb Funcome it would be good idea to give special privilages and protections to Carebear guilds.

The game is a mess.

Umm....you can't build cities in the Border Kingdoms.  You just lost some credibility right there.

Best advice I've read on these forums for a long while.

I agree.  People calling you a troll should realize that maybe you're just trying to spare them the disappointment you experienced.

Umm...

from the AoC site:

We built this city on bloody soil

Through the thick morning fog of the Border Kingdom the early sounds of human activity can be heard. Hammering, sawing, shouting. Everyone is doing their part. Crafters scurry around the work site while planning with the Lords and the Ladies of the guild, and mercenaries protect the guild members as they bring back timber and iron to be used in the construction of the battlekeep.

Should you happen to come upon an available site for a battlekeep, or should you manage to bring down another guild's battlekeep, your guild will have to start constructing its own. This involves gathering resources, erecting buildings and making sure everything is sufficiently protected.

Each building within your battlekeep will grant a bonus that will affect some or all members of your guild. Buildings include the blacksmith, the temple, the alchemist workshop, the university and more. While the temple may benefit healing classes within your guild, the university might provide a bonus for all spell casting classes and your guild will need to prioritize what to build.

«Constructing a battlekeep might take anything from a few hours to several days,» says Game Designer Jason Stone. «You will need to carefully choose what buildings you want as you can’t necessarily build everything, and you must also focus on building the walls required to keep your enemies out and your buildings safely protected. You can build several lines of defenses.»

Sounds like city building to me

Biiiig difference between Player Cities and Battlekeeps.

Let me enlighten you abit.

Player cities require a minimum amount of guild members to start construction (30 at last mention).  They are located in a seperate instance that can house up to 3 different player cities per instance.  Player cities are not attackable by other players but can come under attack by random npc camps.

Battlekeeps are located in the Border Kingdoms, they aren't Player cities, more like the Towers and Keeps in DAOC.  These can be attacked by other players.  There's a total of 9 Battlekeeps and numerous smaller keeps in the Border Kingdoms.  The only relation Battlekeeps and player cities may have is you need to have a player city of substantial size to get the ability to capture and hold a Battlekeep.  The smaller keeps (towers) in the Border Kingdoms are there for the smaller guilds that may not be big enough to capture and hold a Battlekeep.

You really should do abit more research before you try and pull a stunt like this.

Care to point out the biiig difference ? The Keep have walls and buildings with buffs just like player cities.  That the devs themselves calls it a city doesn't exacty discredit the aboe poster much either.

LOL. Thanks for the enlightenment. It was highly entertaining :)

From the FAQ:

13.1 Will there be player-built cities in Age of Conan?
Yes. Guilds will be able to build entire cities and there will be both PvP cities (such as the battlekeeps and, to a lesser extent, the towers) and PvE cities (player-built cities in areas where you cannot PvP).
