It just kills me on how many people apply for betas - get accepted and complain that there is issues - they seem to think Beta is a acronym for early access with a bug free client!

The Perfomance issues are mostly a thing of the past in the new CB client  _ I even tested it on my Girlfriends computer - using a 8600gts - she still gets 20-30fps on high with an outdated CPU (AMD Athlon 3000+) and 2gigs of ram

Allrighty, so after reading about the so called "miracle patch" today here on mmorpg.com, i decided to give closed beta one more shot.  It indeed seems to have cut back the loading times drasticly, i never had to wait more then 20 or 30 seconds!   Unfortunately, i'm still having low framerates in the wilds and 5 fps slideshows in Tortage.  Global chat was full of talk about performance issues, so i asked around what i could do -after this patch- to increase my fps. One guy replied me by saying i had to delete the cache files in my conan folder. I decided to make  a screenshot of his instructions, but when i pressed the button... the game locked up and started repeating the last frame over and over again?!  Since i could not ctrl-alt-del or alt+tab out of it, i had to switch the power off/on.  After being logged in again and clicking on my character to enter the game, it gave me the "client of wrong version" error?!

At that moment, i laughed out loud and just deleted it again from my pc.

My system: Pentium DC 2.8 Gig, 2048MB ram, geforce 8800GT 512 MB alpha dog,  windows XP.

Maybe if you took the time and calculated how shitty you're CPU was you would figure out why AoC was running like a Slideshow. Just because you have a 8 series video card, that doesn't mean it will run like one when your CPU has less computing power than my cell phone.

Attention shoppers. Outside today, we have a cripple fight. Cripple fight, outside!

slurp.... man, it is waste deep with fanbois in this forum. crazy. You guys have at least scared off the OP I'm sure, and the only intelligent post here asking the OP for some specs. Otherwise it might have been possible to obtain some real info and possibly increase sales of the game. But wait, fanbois don't want others to play the game... they would rather play with themself I guess.

Ultimately, if there are reports of bad performance, smart shoppers will want to compare their specs with what is reported in the post. Bashing the OP does not make that doubt go away.... in fact, it actually increases the doubt.

I bet all the game developers Hope to some day have a beta tester as skilled and wise as you....... tool.

I suppose reporting your crashes and issues would of been too much trouble for a kid like you to handle, oh well. Maybe someday you'll realize closed beta isn't there for your simple enjoyment, I doubt it though.

Hey, i've been in many betas before (TR, LOTRO, PW, G&H, etc, etc) and you can bet your ass that i've seen my fair share of in-game reporting tools.  As for reporting bugs in Age of Conan, i admit... never did it. If it is bugreporting they want, they should at least make sure the client is actually playable enough for me to progress and encounter them.  Or do you really expect me to hitch & glitch around with a whopping 7 - 20 frames p/s for hours, days or even weeks? Get real man... only a fool would subject himself to such torture!  When it comes to selecting Beta players, i think developers should pay more attention as to who they are inviting. I'd much rather NOT get an invite for a game i can't play annyway, so that someone who CAN play it might be of actual help when it comes to reporting bugs!

When a person is saying (pay attention fanbois) he only played for about 15 minutes or so due to bad performance,  that doesnt neccesarily mean he thinks the game sucks. It simply means the game was too much to handle for his pc! As a matter of fact, all those who gave up on Conan before lvl 13 because of bad performance and are saying it sucks (pay attention haters) are fools since they didnt even get the chance to really experience it in the first place!  My pc clearly could not handle this game, and considering the fact we're all here to share our individual experiences on this forum, i posted mine.... without saying that it sucked.  Because afterall, i did not get to experience the contents of the game!

Age of Conan is the first 3th generation mmorpg so all this performance drama was to be expected.

I predicted this a long time ago: www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/1501034#1501034

People with high-end machines are more likely to enjoy this game then those without the high-end rigs and the performance gaps between them will be BIG. More so with Age of Conan then with any other previously released games. It all comes down to acknowledging this simple fact, and live with it. It's an understanding that must come from both ways.

If i were the man in charge at Funcom right now, i would make it plain and simple: You'd better have a kick-ass pc or you wont enjoy this game, period.  It would make things much clearer for people and it would minimalize the negative feedback regarding performance on all these forums, giving Age of Conan the oppertunity to steadily grow as time passes by.

For what it's worth, i think AoC is going to be a succesfull game with a healthy following that will only increase in due time.  I will be sure to check it out in about a year or so, when i have a new pc.

And as for those insults you threw at me, i'll just refer you to my avatar. Have a nice day, buddy.

Awe, maybe you misunderstood, I wasn't insulting you I was just telling you how you look. There is a difference, I promise. As for you testing other games fine, I congratulate you. Although you admit you never bothered to even report your issues is pretty much saying you don't care if you play the game, which is perfectly fine. Just don't come cry because you refuse to try and help the game without even attempting to send in a report of your issue.

As for you saying high end pc's will be king of  age of conan.. well.. I really hate to tell you but a 1,000 dollar computer can play age of conan at high settings. The game really runs good on low-mid range computers, specially right now. It might sound impossible, but it is definitely true. Obviously though you won't be playing on high settings with full AA and bloom on a 7800 or x1900 card. But lets say.. a amd dual core 4000 with 2 gigs of ram and a x1900(150 dollar card..) is able to play Age of conan at medium-high settings with no bloom and no AA with 30-40 fps. Obviously resolution is going to be a factor also, but most people don't go over 1440x900 or so without SLI or atleast a 8800GTX.

All in all, I think once the issues with drivers and certain issues with their code are worked out, the playerbase will see a huge jump in performance, specially people having issues on their high end computers. If they don't choose to wait, no one will force you to play, I promise.

People can call me a fanboy all they want but I love games, I love mmorpgs, and I love the ability to freely choose which game I enjoy. I only wish everyone would respect other people in their decisions to love or hate a game.

Yes, I''m a Jewish gay man, deal with it.

Still have people trying to give this game bad rep? This amazes me.

If you still have problems playing this game, it's YOU not Funcom, move alone.

Bunch of emo boys trying to tell you how they "feel" about stuff. As long as everyone acknowledges that they are idiots, then I don't think it will affect Conan.

But you know, you got a tip about deleting the cache. You nver tried it though as you crashed(or what to say) when taking a screenshot.

This quoted part is not a motivation to not bug that one. I mean you already encounter a bug, it is not like you have to go to the bartender in towns to report bugs to him after you found them. And also note the irony that you discovered this thing when you was taking screenshot of instruction that maybe could have changed your performance. And then you are using the performance as a motivator to not report this bug.

Mmm, heres the lowdown. People want to play new games, but dont want to upgrade their rigs. I'm, sorry but the world doesn't work like that. Don't like it? Go play a console system full time.
