I ran a test on the system requirements site, and it tells me that my 8800GTS 512 does not make the grade:

http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/7867/image002zc5.gif

I've installed the ForceWare version:    175.16.

According to what it says, I don't have video card acceleration and HW Transform & Lighting.

Anyone have any clues as to what might be wrong?

Cheers

that's site's just being a noob, your card will be fine. i'm playing it fine with a 7900 GTO at 1920x1200 with low details, character distances maxed but grass n shit off. it's fine. not sure i like the game tho.

"In lag, no one can hear you scream"

Either buggy test or your drivers are pooched some how as your video card for sure meets the reqs.

I try to think, but nothing happens

Hmm it's saying you don't have hardware 3d acceleration too, yet it finds your card. That's weird. Did you disable something in your nvidia control panel or in device manager?

And how do you have 2.2 GB of video card RAM? At least that's what it says lol.

SCIENCE PROVES CAPS LOCK CAN CURE CANCER.

I have no idea why that website keeps getting advertised here by so many players...

It told me I couldn't play AoC, so I picked a low-grade game for sh#ts and giggles, and like yourself, it's sucking and it tells me that I can't even play The Sims... I can run it perfectly, thanks.

If you have an 8800 GTS at 512 mb's then that definitely shouldn't be the problem.

it's a GTS, it uses system RAM for extra memory

If you have an 8000 or above Nividia you will be fine. What matters is ram.

Have at least 2 GBs for XP, I would say 3. If you have Vista then get 3-4 GBs since Vista basically eats up 1 GB of your Ram in any case.

It had to be something with the driver, as I've just installed 175.70-vista64 drivers, and the test passes. Maybe it was a bad driver install to begin with.

Cheers

Wrong, the 8300, 8400 and 8500s are garbage (worse then 6800s).

i think I advertised that site last. Good thing you ran that test and it came back with errors. After you re-installed the drivers everything came back green. Good for you.

So hot, it would even make heat melt...

That looks like a directX problem there, it sees our card but the directdraw settings seems garbled some how, try hitting it with a hammer, or update directX.

start - run - dxdiag

actually i d tend to agree with the site . i have an 8800 card ( with pentium dc 3 ghz 3 ghz ram ) and although it runs aoc well enough in open areas theres big performance issues in citys etc . (and yes i do have the latest drivers , know how to change my cards settings , turn on programs running in the background etc etc) ,

its actually down to what you personally consider acceptable in game .theres an awful lot of fanboys singing its praises in these forums but for the general public at large may sing a different tune when they see how it performs on a mid range pc .

time will tell .
