Let's keep away  the idiot 14 year olds from the game though. Most  people who play MMOs at my school are probably playing some retarded crap like silkroad, maplestory, or WoW. Luckily none of them know what AoC is.

QFE, it's been my experience that it's not the teenagers that leet speak and run amok of the community, but the twenty-somethings.  Generally, the younger players players are quite mature and represent themselves well.  They really have to in order to have any success in a game populated with angst-ridden twenty-year olds clutching with a death-grip to their childhood and the even older, "get off my lawn" crowd who remind you at every turn that they played UO when it was a more like a job than a game.

I for one, actually enjoy the fact that I share my gaming experience with a myriad of ages and social backgrounds.  The foul-mouthed, the leet speakers and the self-important are easily ignored just like in real-life.  Now for the fact that this is indeed a MA rated game does worry me a bit.  I just hope that Funcom does not gimp itself by excluding all those teenagers and their sub money (or their parents).

I don't think that this niche market of mmorpg's is big enough or has matured enough yet to start excluding willing customers based upon age.  I still play video games to satiate my inner kid, so I am happy that these kids have not begun threads complaining about old people like me slowing down their games and railing against their conduct.

But yeah. I don't care if they had put a M rating on the game. GTA has it aswell yet there are many younger kids playing it. Nothing you can do about it really.

And yeah, yelling Zomfg and pwned. There are plenty of "mature" people doing that aswell.

The "ratings" are totally voluntary. The are not enforcable...if I spelled that right. They are all vonlutary by location and such.

I am not a fan of spamming or using the term 'pwn' and would like to see it banished from gaming because IMO, its overused and im tired of hearing it. What ever happened to 'have at you' or 'tally ho' or 'hiyayayayaya'. Cmon get creative and come up with a new catch phrase... I think ill just yell pineapple at players that cross me. I have an army of one liners ive got ready to use when i play this game to try and just, enhance the experience a bit. I dare you to see how long you can go without spamming pwnd, i bet all your stuff you have no willpower.

I always thought it was when noobs get overexcited in victory and try to type too quickly, and misspell "owned" with a P, similar to the way people say "zOMG!"

It was a stab at the fact that the guy is SOOOO EXCITED that he beat you, that he can't even type straight. Or perhaps that he can't type straight anyways. Who knows?

On a side note, you'll never keep out all the idiots, and using a "Mature" rating to do it is even more futile. There are just as many morons who are over 21 as there are morons who are children. Sometimes I think people mistake "maturity" for "intelligence" (and vice versa) since both seem to be in short supply these days.

Some age physically and not mentally, just like me. I wake up every morning with a bowl of stupid.

This is a game that half the pull is it's "matureness".  They are proud of the amount of blood/gore and boobies.  There is NO way you are going to keep the kiddies away from that.
