Oh yeah thats right, umm EQ2 has such nice attractive graphics lol, sorry if you think that game or Vanguard looks good you need an eye exam dude!. Sorry but I would rather look at GW and WOW then EQ2 or Vanguard something is just not right about those games graphics. LOTRO has nice environment graphics but the characters look and animate very oddly. AOC does look great but umm for many people it will not lol, you'll see. { Mod Edit - NDA }

Ah god oh well let everyone find out soon enough I guess.

Have a great time there, lol.

Everyone is entitled to their own perception of which is a better graphical environment and everyone's opinion is just as valid. You're a bit off topic though.

I'll wait until after release or at least some good feedback in open beta, if AoC is anything like the Witcher ( off-line rpg ) with its load times and constent cinematic cut scenes.   I like to make my own fun, I don't need videos to do it for me!   I'm aslo not too crazy about 20 levels of them playing the game for me.

And what about load times entering every building ?

This is the way revolutionary gaming is now days, they think everyone likes this stuff.  I think Warhammer will be open to do all of your own thing instead of this modern junkey stuff.

My list :

1)  Well made game *

2)  Lots of content

3)  Lots of players, it's an MMO

4-8)  Everything else

9)  Graphics, I have a super computer and its still low on the list.

* not sure on this one

Something must have happened to the gene pool lately...

Some people should try to understand the difference between zones and invisble walls.

Egad...

Invisible walls are a total party-pooper for me. There is nothing more immersion braking than that... Just the thing to remind you that you're playing a computer game rather than being in some parallel universe. It is totally beyond contempt that any modern game that pretends to some "immersivity" would stoop to that level. And loading zones are just slightly less horrible in that regard.

I'd rather play a game with Pacman graphics but real seamless living world than a photo-realistic theme park with arrows pointing you where to go for your "rpg experience".

Meh, WoW has set the standard with their seamless, loadingscreen-free world. Imo there is only one option for new games that seriously want to play ball - and that is to surpass WoW with more interactivity, "living world" stuff etc. No one looking past screenshots or IP is going to buy this huge step back to the "level loading" times... This isn't 1998 you know...

Wow.

I had no idea this game was not free roaming. If that is true, then thats another MMO I will not buy.  To me, free roaming is one of the most important attributes to an MMO.

I had no idea it was designed similiar to that of GuildWars

zone = an instance which has only one copy

dungeon = an instance which may have muliple copies and limited to a group or raid

In a PvE setting this hasn't a big impact. It may feel unrealistic that you enter a bout the n suddenly you are elsewhere bott other enjoys short traveltime.

In PvP it may have a  huge impact. I.e. you cannot see players on the other side of a zone. Sometimes toons transfered between zones cannot react to toons already loaded which give an advantage of 3-4 sec of free attacktime. When you die, you will spawn at predictable spots where griefers like to hang.

AoC is a levelbased, themepark game. An endgamer will always kick lowbie a**. There is no freedom of travel, shotcuts, "doing it their way" where quests and controls where people are at a planned level. Which is fine if you like this type of game. Just don't expect more out of this than you get out of WoW or LOTRO.

Blizzard: Redefining mediocrity one game at a time.

{ Mod Edit - NDA }

Yes gameplay is very important. But quite why you use WoW as the benchmark for gameplay is beyond me. I would go so far to say that anyone who enjoys that game knows f*** about the genre.

I must admit it really puts a dark cloud over the game. I like a lot of what they are doing with the game, of coarse not everything; but i liked where they were taking it. Not having a free roaming world really takes the shine off for me. I see the interaction with the enviroment the most important and unfortunately the most overlooked aspect to mmo's.

McCain for President

I seriously doubt that it has restrictions like you stated.  If so then all I got to say is DAMN!  If it is just in the beginning then I suppose I can accept that though.

If possible try to describe it with a game example.

Thanks

Ok..lets put it this way..i am walking along a path and over to my far left i see what is clearly a dense forest..great i approach then ..BAM invisible wall.

Now this would be ok if it was minimal but from what i have heard  its pretty much everywhere.

Again this is just what i have heard but the zones are meant to be really small. To give you an idea lets take the barrens in WOW and say that most zones are not even half the size of  that zone with invisible walls.

That mountain you see in the far off distance with beautiful AOC graphics is out of your reach ,so every time you pass them you will know you can look but not touch.

If you are looking for deep exploration in AOC then forget it..i even heard that you could explore the current hyboria in a  25 min tour..lol now if that is the case then this has to be a real small world.

May 1st will be the time to see if this is all true but from what i am hearing AOC has beautiful graphics but the size of the world and the amount of instancing is way beyond what people are expecting.

If you don't mind this then AOC will probably be your holy grail but if this effects the time of game play you like,,don't pre-order until you have played the open beta..

WoW has set the standard for seamless world? what about Ultima Online and everquest which came way before WoW.  And Ultima Online already surpassed WoW in interactivity.
