You can climb mountains, you can get to fall off cliffs, climb trees and buildings, the zones look huge and fun for an explorer. Warhammer, Darkfall, The Agency whatever, will all have invisible walls, doubting it will be only kidding yourself, trying to prove that they wont is like me proving that they will. Same goes for AoC, it will have some its in the games make up, but the size of the world is massive. Can you climb building, roof tops and tree's in other mmo's?? can you realistically dive underwater and actually drown in other mmo? no how is that for interactions. There are no seamless games coming out in 2008. |

All MMOs are theme park games last I checked. The toys just differ. As for player interactivity, it's up to everyone to decide what's acceptable. Personally I dislike running around in the vast areas of generic landscape to reach the one spot that takes 30 minutes to reach if you felt like running towards that direction. Others like that sort of exploration atmosphere. More power to them. It depends on how much detail you want in your virtual world. It also depends on how accessible you want the content to be. There are people in here that say that Guild Wars feels pretty confined. And yet, there are plenty of people who play and enjoy that game regardless. So, sometimes one's preference does not distract from somebody else's enjoyment. We just tend to forget that, especially on these forums. |

Originally posted by Xris375Yes, that was a design choice from the start. You seem to think that size matters in all things. "Massive" means little if the areas are randomly generated and generic in nature. How big exactly is massive anyway and how small is too small? I can bet people will give you different answers given their past game experiences. The world is hand drawn. That's also a design choice from the start. It's up to the people to decide where they want to play, but most importantly, if the world fits with the game style promoted. Massive is pointless if you can't find anyone to PvP. Too small and the sieges and other battles will lose their appeal as well. Time will tell.

Originally posted by Xasapis Most games are themepark games, you mean ? What people prefer isn't the point imo, it is the limits the devs put on gamers that count. Never mind if I like to climb mountains or not, that choice is already made for me. Vanguard showed (in a crappy way) that the illusion of freedom may be achieved.

When Darkfall enters any sort of beta phase with people outside the development team involved, we can talk about something that has moved beyond the concept phase. Until then, it's like talking about how crap this movie is compared to this book I read. |

Originally posted by Xasapis The argument that massive works against meeting other gamers may or may not be valid. Sure if you sit on an mountaintop, the chance of massive PvP is low. However, put some kind of attractor like a limited/valuable resouce, wou will have plenty of PvP. As you said, time will tell. I have a lot of friends that will play this game and that is for me the most important part. We played vanguard for a couple of months and even though the game play stinked, we had fun nontheless. It is who you play with and not what you play that is important Just don't think this game about freedom to explore everything. It is not. It's about sharing a story with friends. Which isn't a bad thing, not by a long shot.

The king and the pawn go back to the same box at the end of the day. |

Originally posted by Xasapis Its right before proven wrong to say that Darkfall have a fully open world to explore then say they have invincible walls. And its also more right to say they have all those features then saying they dont have them. What i mentioned is simply what we know about the game. Knowledge acknowledged from developer journals. And its more likely to be the truth then some information from some random poster on a website. But i agree that whether this is the "real" truth will be seen when Darkfall enters beta. |

I didn't say that the Darkfall developers lied. I just said that the game is still in concept phase. Anyone can include any feature desirable in a game, but from going from paper to the actual product is another ball game. |
