Most of the whining is often entirely incorrect or statements/predictions based on opinion and sketchy evidence.

It's entirely possible that some of them are paid or unpaid shills that are trying to create negative publicity during the crucial launch period.

Don't make any decisions based on what you read in forums from completely anonymous people.  Try to make informed decisions based on sources you have found reliable in the past.

I guess u did some market research. Can we see the result charts? how many people were in the survey? please post some results. I mean this forum has been crying for FACTS and u sir apparently have none. U are no better than those whiners and complainers u are talking about.

Can i start a thread saying that satisfied customers are a vocal minority paid from funcom? I ll just replace the word whiner with fanboi in your original post....

Fanboi is not a word, it is just bad grammar.

My big question...do any of you beta TEST the game? All of the beta test's I have ever been a part of, I was invited to find bugs and such, to try and make the game better for launch.

When did the beta test become what it is now, at least on these forums. I don't see anyone actually testing, just seems like all these clowns are in the beta thinking it is a free preview of the game to be release.

Anyway...

Wizyy: Don't take my generalization too personally. I didn't write your name to my previous post, and I don't mean that every single fan would be lying.

But I've been lied by AoC fans on these forums, therefore I try to warn people that AoC fans on these forums do lie.

I find it pretty sick how the trolls and doomsayers that are rampant in almost every post, including this one are trying to make everyone else who speaks good about age of conan into some horrible fanboy who is on a crusade to demolish any and all naysayers. How foolish can you people be? You call people who like age of conan obsessed, fine but what do you call yourselves? the majority of the trolls here post more useless information with the intent to start flames and fights, and they do this on a hourly basis.

Anytime something comes out that is somewhat bad from funcom or age of conan, there are about 5-8 people who run to this forum and scream bloody murder, over, and over again. Do you honestly think that is not being a tad bit crazy, and maybe even borderline obsessive? You guys may love to hate the people who are here to give you guys real information that only a select few of us actually know and are willing to talk about.

Most of us are not here to cause arguements or start fights, we're here to talk about a game we love on a forum meant for age of conan. There is honestly no reason for the same random people to come here and post and repost the same misinformation and garbage other then to start a flame war, and they get off on it.

There are a select few who actually have the ability to discuss a game without resulting to insults and misinformation, and these are usually the ones who honestly want real answers and isn't here to just tell everyone their opinion is correct, and everyone elses is wrong. It is sad to see how people can just hate on people who are the only ones giving you real correct information, when you would rather believe someone who has no idea what they are talking about. I guess people tend to follow negative posts, then ones with honest information.

Umm, not to be rude, but  the actually closed beta test has been going on for along time, and the recent Open beta/pvp weekend, were mostly just for stress testing and fixing some of the major stalls/slow downs.

Trust me when I say I did my best in closed beta to make sure everyone will enjoy their time in age of conan, as i'm sure the rest of the CB testers did.

Jesus is the Sun of God

There will always be fanboys and there will always be doomsayers. You just got to ignore both of them and try to be in the middle. Its like this now with every single new MMO and its getting ridicoulas I think these forums have just turned into flame war after flame war with no real facts and the people with the real facts get ignored.

We get ignored indeed, I even installed Xfire again to prove I'm in AoC beta (check my xfire sig).

For the last time, beta works great to me, I have loads of fun, preordered both US and EU versions (waited on AoC for 3 years, as I am fan of R.E.Howard's works since childhood).

This is what WORKS in beta, played many hours on these two:
AMD Phenom 9500
ATI Radeon 3870
4GB DDR2
MS Vista 64-bit Ultimate

AMD 64x2 4800
NVIDIA 8800 GTS 320MB
2GB DDR2
MS Vista 64-bit home basic

It's kinda scary the level of agressiveness fanbois for this game have.  I mean I've seen people express and opinion that was somewhat negative only to be shouted down, called uninformed, unintelligent, lacking a valid experience to say anything negative about the game, etc.

I've the exact opposite opinion. When someone says something good about this game they get called things, and get blamed for being an unintelligent fanboi. But I can aslo recall reading a few posts where this you mentioned came up.

Thats my opinion and it's a fact :P  For other people reading it you can take it as one persons view.  Someone that isn't a hater, I have a preorder, and someone that isn't a fanboi .

:) same here

Will AoC succeed?  I'd say thats still up in the air.  Based on the number of bugs and game issues I've seen I think there is a possibility that the game will flop.  A lot depends on how things work under load.  In my experience things that don't work well in beta tend to not improve much at release and releases bring a number of unplanned and unexpected new problems.

Will AoC succeed? Hmm, depends on what people call a success. For me the beta worked great, never had any problems, but I know many had. Latest patch seems to fixed several issues for the unlucky ones. Betas and problems during a beta is not always a bad thing, it brings the problems up from underground to be delt with. The patch they released increased my belief in AoC quite much but if we hadn't seen a patch at all, then we all should have been worried.

I'm hoping it all works out but I'd never tell someone it's in the bag of that AoC is going to be a great game.  I'd rather say it has some issues and it might be a good game if they can work the issues out before release.

People that a blind fans are just as bad as haters that want to drag the game down.  neither of them are really credible.

Well to recomend any mmorpg to anyone else before it's released is not wise. Every mmo that's out there has had several issues waiting to be fixed after release. So I think you make a good point. And ofcourse there are blind fans as there are blind haters. I really do not understand those people.

I hope both AoC and WAR will be two great games with some depth in the gameplay. Hope to see you ingame :)

The problem in Funcom's Conan , the whining / complaints / bad PR is coming from thier target source young teens. The young teen crowd doesnt exactly channel thier rage into constructive or even rational post. The entire problem is Funcom is dealing with 12 to 18 years , expecting them to react like rational human beings, which isnt going to happen. Instead of finding a way to turn this problem into solutation Funcom is over~reacting , and cause more of a problem.

      ----------------------

Even as a sad fanbois I must agree with this logic, they may not have targeted teens officialy as their customers as having a mature rating and doing so openly would be immoral. However you'd have to be a village idiot not to think this is going to appeal to teenage males just as much as anyone else.

When dealing with teenage boys that don't get their way, for the most part they go crying to their mummies and get very emotional about it. Funcom will just have to suck it up, unlike the teenage children (because all teens are still children) that have a temper tantrum whenever they don't get their way.

You get that with any product labeled adult. The way you deal with it , and how you handle it , shows the company you are. I personally dont like thier reaction , but they are in "cover my butt" mode after the 6 month or so old beta client released on fileplanet and the entire issue of "Oh shet we meant , its was a just a demo not a full open beta"

There is a right way and wrong way to deal with people , Funcom has decided to use the most aggressive stance , against a group who are in the height of thier rebel state. Its like pouring gas on a fire, its going to come back to bite them in the can.

"The one you call messiah is a lie"--- Gary Numan

Teenagers are much like their opinions, best to just ignore them whenever possible.

Agricola: "Now the fanbois shall know why they fear the lag, now the haters will understand why they're afraid of AoC!"

First of all Wizyy I'm not calling you a liar.  Thought I would get that out of the way before anyone started to jump down my throat.  I find it interesting that you state AoC is running fine on a system running vista home basic as that OS is not even remotely aimed at gaming, especially high-end gaming.  The official MS description of the capabilities of home basic are :

Windows Vista Home Basic is the edition of Windows for basic home computing needs. If you only want to use your PC for tasks like browsing the Internet, using e-mail, or viewing photos, then Windows Vista Home Basic may be the right edition for you. While it won't provide as many benefits as Windows Vista Home Premium, it will help you use your PC more easily and more safely than you could with Windows XP.

If home basic runs all modern games just fine then a lot of people are being misled by both microsoft and system builders everywhere in order to get them to buy home premium instead :)

we will see.. mayor 3 factors are

1. techical state of the the  game
2. community impact on the game play
3. personal way of the game play
