there are some "worthwhile" items in aoc but all of those will be obsolete in just few levels if you want to have "the best gear possible" at all times.

On the outside your character looks poor and suffered for the first 75 levels....just to point out that you are actually a poor and suffered but yet potential hero. It's not the world of rainbows. sorry :/

the best place to get rare drops is villa quests wich are on a 3 hour cooldown  these quests can be done from level 38 -80 in the noble district i have gotten at least 25-30 blue world drops there and im only 73 and it also drops epics as a few guildies have gotten them there

Basicly - stats on drop items are usually 20 lvls below what you are using.  So basicly - no use taking them.

Overall - items in AOC as worth nothing.  YOu can lvl from 1 - 40 and 40-80 without changing your armor.  Thats how bad it is.

im a ranger and i seemed to have changed my armor and weapons at least  every  three levels either from quests or ah items or villas since the spawn changes levels according to your level

I went from lvl 35 - 60 wearing mostly the same gear.  The only gear I changed ended up looking exactly the same as the other pieces (only one glove model in game for light armor that I have seen).  Most of the time the new gear was only slightly better, maybe an additional 20 mana or health and a decimal amount of armor factor.  I started to base my armor choices for my legs on length of the armor (no more mini skirts).

I do have a concern after reading some reviews though. Gamespot had this comment:

"The prospect of new loot, often a major reason to push forward, isn't as exciting as you'd hope, either. As you level, you'll find that few looted items are helpful, and the limited inventory space (even after buying an extra bag) can make dropped items more of a nuisance than a pleasure."

Is this accurate? I also talked to two players that I know who have had the game since it released. One is at level 37, the other at 40. Both confirmed that the items you get via drops are simple things with a small + to something or other, or similar things.

I'm honestly not sure if this game will hold my interest. I came from playing Ultima Online, then Diablo, and D2 for years,  WOW, etc. The chance to find cool weapons and armor, etc. are one of my favorite things from all of those games. The ability to use them to change the way your character plays, or their attributes are my favorite part of gaming. Does AOC really not offer anything of interest in this category?

UO was once the greatest game ever.

Then they made Trammel.

Then they made it item-based.

I wish i could get my old UO back. Right now, AoC is the closest I can seem to get.

Mastering the Art of Chill

At lvl 80 crafted blue items are better then t1 and t2 in PVP. but like people said gear doesn't matter since you can get two shotted by 1/2 the classes in AOC.

All MMO's have grinds. If you don't like to Grind then MMO's are not for you.
