Was wondering if i should go ahead and buy aoc or wait a month or two for some more patches? I'm not one of those people that rush through a game either so im not worried about end game content for awhile. And also Hox, do they just own everyone or are they the most popular class everyone seems to be playing them or rerolling to them. 

Wait, if you are looking for a game to play for more than a month. You can get a few weeks of fun out of it now and most of that time might even be a blast. However it's serious flaws and short comings become very apparent after a few weeks.

The game released very prematurely, with much of the priority of the last two months seemingly spent on trying to give the game at least an appearance it was ready, even though it really needed many more months of development time.

The game should have had at least twice as many zones and three times as much content at launch. Also, there are a lot of core mechanics and game systems either not working or possessing "place holder" quality.

There is a lot to like here, but IMO, to enter now is just to set oneself up for the worst kind of MMORPG frustration; knowing the game you are playing could have been great, but finding it hard to log in to play after a few weeks because of it's current state.

Another six months of development may have made a huge difference. Development rates slow down a lot after release, because of the stresses and strains of developing with a live, paying customer base. It may take a lot longer than six months before the game is worth extended play.

I feel I got my money's worth with the many hours of fun I had the first month, but I really hate Funcom for rushing a game and letting me play something I really liked, only to find it's far too incomplete to continue playing.

Go ahead and buy it. People are complaining about lack of quests for later levels, but they already started adding some through the updates which are rolling in pretty fast. There are very few people who have gamebreaking issues.

Can't comment on the hox other than I see very few of them on my server.

Wait.

It's because people don't wait and just buy with their eyes  shut that companies keep bringing out bugged games.

It really depends on you. Depends on what you expect. 1-50 is definetely smooth with a few hickups. Nothing to be scared of. Past 50 some grind might kick in. If you cant stand mindless grind, then wait a few patches. An active guild is almost a must in AoC to experience the full game. I expect quite some changes, boosts and nerfs in the next weeks. If you hate such better wait. 

Flavor of the month are ToS and PoM. Some say they are overpowered.  Personally i think those are the classes who work best with the combat design. AE is just the most fun in a game with unpredictable adds. Be it AE casting or AE sword swings.

Wait unless you have a guild or some friends to play the game with. It is extremely boring/frustrating to play alone and pick-up groups don't happen often.

I'm leaning toward getting the game but i know what you mean about playing a game you know could be great but its just to hard to login.That happened to me in Vanguard. and i would have a few friends playing wiht me but i wanted to play an assassin which i know are bugged but i can't get over them

I'll go with eugam on this one. It really depends on you.

For example, I am a rather slow leveller. I only hit 50 a day ago, so up till now, I've been well equipped with Quests and things like that. It runs smooth enough for me, smooth enough not to destroy the fun for certain. There's a few bugs that I personally experienced, but nothing that actually ruins it for me.

Due to my slow levelling speed, and a great bunch of people in my Guild, the game is extreme fun so far and is most likely going to stay that way. As someone else said earlier, content and fixes are rolling in ona  bi-weekly/weekly basis.

However, if you are not willing to deal with a few problems now and then, or are an extreme power-player, rushing through levels to get to the top quickly (not saying that's a bad thing), then I would advise you to wait a while. Content -IS- being patched in and things are being smoothed as it goes, so the longer you wait, the more you obviously will have to do and the less problems you will face.

So...a choice of what you play like really.

If you have a static group of friends you can play any class you want. The probelms are more about PvP and/or solo PvE. There are places you only can do solo. But for the most part grouping is fun and balances the weaknesses of single classes out.

The biggest worry to me right now is that the game just might not retain enough subscribers and Funcom could find itself in financial trouble. I remember the VG:SoH Sigil/SOE debacle vividly and it was hard on the game; and VG truly had potential.

The devs still have a long time to go, both bug and content wise, so do wait.

All a matter of what sort of gamer you are.

I'm a slow leveler, so I just hit level 44 last night.  So far there's been more than enough quest content to see me through.

That said, sometimes I just hate questing.  I miss the early days of DAOC where you went out and got a group and ground up some experience.  Which is what the level 50-80's are doing today (if they have any sense)

Last night my guild invited me along for the first time to a grind group.  They apprenticed me so I was fighting as a virtual level 69 and we went into some new place I can't recall and swarmed the place.

We picked out a real nice camp to fight in. Oh wait, there were some other players there. No problem, 15 minutes or so of beating them senseless again and again convinced them at that their camp was really our camp. 

We then proceeded to pull wave after wave of mobs and kill them without mercy (and any players who happened to wander by)

I was thrilled...finally, after so long, a good grind camp like the long lost days of DAOC.  I had a blast, in less than 1.5 hours I gained 2 full levels (42 - 44.5) and it was the best time I've had in an MMO in a long time.

My advice, start playing, find a good guild (not as hard as you think) and get into the early 40's as quick as you can.  Then you'll be hunting in zones near the grind areas and your guildmates will be able to quickly pull you in to their groups.

If you can bring your own friends...even better, run as a pack and crush all in your way.

And Assassins being gimped....must be an exaggeration.  True, in PVE I can't pull a camp full of mobs and solo them, but from a PVP perspective, they have a lot of tricks and can wreck havoc on a battlefield.

While some classes are tough (damn POM's are so hard to kill) I think all classes can be played well by a skilled player, so chose what you like and go at it.  Just make sure one of your friends is a TOS/POM and you'll be unstoppable.

Check if your hardware exeed or match the recomeded requirements for this game !

Check the official forum tuesday and friday for new patchnotes, and the mood of the playerbase.

When players make happy posts about patch contence then its time to enter the game.
