if you registered your key you don't need it again. You just go to the web site log onto your account and activate it. Or for the next month it is already active you can log on and verify it. You just need to reinstall the game and patch. If you dont' have the cd or the software you can use the station pass manager client to download and install the entire thing. I'm not sure where to get the station pass manager I always have to poke around on the web site for awhile to find it.... but it is there somewhere |

MMOs require more reasoning and imagination than most stereotypically ''adult'' activities. |

I can wholeheartedly agree with you on Vanguard Teala. I am still subscribed to AoC atm, but if I hadnt bought and registered a 60 day timecard along with the game, I would probably be giving it a couple of months to settle down a bit. I was considering resubscribing to Vanguard to play alongside AoC for the 'wide-open' feel and because it was getting rave reviews from returnees on this site. I even posted in the Vanguard section asking some questions about the state of the game now, I was quite happy with the responses I recieved, the game seemed to have turned the corner. So I was delighted yesterday when I recieved notification of the Free Veteran Trial for Vanguard SOH. I reinstalled the game from the original discs and went through a lengthy 3 hours of patching. I fired the game up and decided to start over on Halgar as there is a guild of peeps from this very site playing there. I rolled-up a Thestran Human Ranger and was a little disappointed by the lack of customisation available now, but I thought, oh what the hell and entered the world of Telon for my 3rd and last time. The first thing I noticed the graphics didnt seem as good as they were before (yes, I did all the relevant tweaks and adjustments for my system), now maybe this is because I have been spoiled by AoC, but really the world just looked washed-out and lifeless. Animations are still absolutely woeful in this game too, jumping is a personal favourite of mine, just what the hell is THAT!? As for combat animations, dont even get me started. I soldiered on though thinking about the wide open world and all the options available to me ingame. After about 1 hour, I thought to myself - I'm not really enjoying this - so I logged out and decided to try out one of my old characters on Seradon. I entered the game as my level 38 Dark Elf Necromancer and wandered out into the world to play around a bit. Again, but after less than an hour this time I got to feeling all meh about what I was doing and logged off. On to performance. Yes, performance has improved since my last visit to Telon (my second stint ingame in September '07, I also Beta tested and played the first 3 months of launch). Has it improved as much as some people on this site are trying to make out - Hell no! Hitching is still an issue, I still needed to do The Vanguard Spin (tm) when entering the game or a new area. My abomination was still bugged for crossing chunks and several graphical issues were still to be found, flickering, whiteout and suchlike. Needless to say Vanguard has again been removed from my HD, after all this time the game is still not up to scratch. If people can complain about the unfinished state of AoC, then they are going to have a hard time in Vanguard if they decide to try it out. If AoC is paying to play Beta, then after 18 months of being a live game so is Vanguard.

So i'm renewing my VG sub tonight as well and redownloading planning on giving it another shot. Largely due to the fact that I will only have my laptop for the rest of the Summer and it can't run AoC in an acceptable manner. If it runs VG decently i'll stick around while i'm away and maybe check out AoC or a game from my sig if one enter beta or Ryzom comes back in the Summer. |

The suspense is terrible. I hope it will last. |
Come back to Vanguard: Sage of Heroes between June 26, 2008 at 12:01AM PDT and July 31, 2008 at 11:59PM PDT for FREE* to experience first-hand all the changes, updates and additions that have been introduced to the world of Vanguard. Telon Rides On, the latest game update, offers each of the races in Vanguard exciting New Mounts to acquire and befriend in their journey across the lands of Telon. The problem with VG is that there are people that want pretty animations, pretty models but they don't even check the gameplay because of it. VG gameplay rocks, its the best out there, the models...not so much but that will be fixed soon(TM) I think subcribers# will go up when the new models are released. |

This has to be the most non-combative thread in a good while. Particularly since folks are discussing competing titles, subscriptions and whatnot. As for VG, I went to scope it out since I scored it @ launch and the old lady has the station pass :( So, I figured, what the hell. It's too early to come to an honest conclusion and offer a valid opinion. The few things I noticed immediately was performance with the highest settings being smooth and the amount of other new players that have migrated over from whichever game has recently turned them off.

I like vanguard also :P It still has room for improvement for sure but it nowhere near the train wreck that AoC currently is in my opinion.... |

When you buy a game through digital download you never get a key. It just gets automatically added to your account. In fact, you probably have an active subscription right now because of the free month. |
