As for Gm's being incomepetent

a few months before I quit WoW, I sent a ticket in WoW, - the GM replying called me by the wrong char name. And also started to aks me questions (!) about the game, without me giving any suggestions that I had any more knowledge than the average player.

That WoW GM was clearly confused and behaved like a kid, but to Blizzard defense that was the only GM I remember that messed up.

As for Funcom, I haven't met any immature or incompetent GM's, neither AO or AoC, but then again I haven't petitioned many times in any of the games.

The GM was either incompetent or inexperienced. Probably inexperienced. It is odd the problem could be solved by one GM and not another perhaps there are a lack of clear guidelines ?

However...

The player involved was rude! A sort of selfish childish  "give it me now" attitude. Given the current batch of MMO's seemingly released more buggy and too early is probably not a great attitude to have. This "mis-tell retard" bit was also cowardly. I know I can be mouthy but this was nastiness directed at the GM who was just trying to do their job. I think the player involved should get a job where for the first few weeks he/she feels completley out there league. Learning curves and all. ;)

I wont comment on AOC as a game in this thread. Quite frankly i think the two issues above are more important.

You really need to be clearer when talking to GMs. I wasn't able to figure out what you really wanted until the second or third page. It really would have saved you a lot of headache if you just got to the point...

But anyway, that gm was obviously trying to avoid you by trying to get out of the conversation without even knowing what the problem was.

The mt was funny though

I'd like to point out that was not me doing the talking, but my guild mate.

You see, right or wrong, you get way better customer service in all aspects of life if you don't act like a asshole. Thats just a fact. Never forget there is what a CA is required to do, and what they can actually do, and that is very often defined by your approach and behaviour towards them. So one GM represents them all, Is that what the point was ? You say rages on , Do you have proof of other examples ?

Within the conversation it says you had been helped before by another GM, with the same issue . Does that spell out incompetence across the board ? Or are you simply trying to get under the skin of "fanboi's" with this entire post ?

It's just not right to judge a group by the actions of one ,I'd also like to know how that was a MT , WHo was he responding to ? I see no chat that warrants the word retard outside of the convo with the GM.(which still was uncalled for)

As for the first , It was referring to all the complaints Hordes of Goonheim receive (guys from something awful.com, ganking guild on my server)  he didn't tell them they couldn't gank in groups , Just gave his two cents on the situation (it's not against the rules as he said)

So where do you get your description of the situation?

As for number two , It really dosen't tell you what was going on before the GM showed up. How do we know that was the first time a GM had to step in between the two guilds , Or they weren't spamming petitions on each other?

So I wouldn't classify these two examples in the same way as the issue the OP had.

No, they are not in the same class, but both the other two were telling people to hold back on pvp in a supposedly pvp based game. You asked for more example on GMs being dumb saying things like "we have anyymous among our ranks" and telling two guilds not to fight anymore. Both guilds were like "so we can't pvp on a pvp server?". It is just more examples.

I was actually looking for examples of GM's not helping people with REAL issues .

PVP emboils heated emotions , Something GM's really don't like to deal with , Just as Moderators hate dealing with flaming and trolls. There is no way to go about it fairly therefor in some cases one might say something stupid as shown above . HOwever it dosen't mean he/she was incompetent .
