Is it still just about grinding AFK..or have they added real quests and stuff. Somthing other than the kill 200 X quests from thoes dam statues.
Thanks. |

The lack of quests is probably the game's weakness (along with the AFK grinding, as you call it). They have actually added some, but they are pretty much in the high levels. |

Well, that is disopointing. |

There are quests at all levels (some listed lower down). I’m level 25, 6 member family, so have seen only a fraction of the game; this far I’d say SotNW was a very low grind game. I’d rate it better than Guildwars, which is not known for grind. I’ve been taking every employment office ‘Kill X’ mission I can, then getting the storyline quests and adding the ‘Kill X’ tasks from the statues. By the time I’ve fought my way through an area to fulfil the quest I’ve killed enough for the statue task reward and a good part of the employment office ‘kill X’ mission is done. I like getting lots of rewards Get the right weapons (Pioneer) and you just blast everything at high speed. SotNW fights are ‘Devil may Cry’ speed – fast; Respawn is also fast, so killing 200 is usually no trouble. The statue ‘Kill 20 X’ tasks are over too quickly. And best of all; what I really like about SotNW is the auto fight / heal. You can afk if your team is strong enough compared to the mobs. So I can answer the phone / go to the kitchen etc and my ‘family’ is still working. I’ve seen people afk for ages ( I collect the drops Also, if your level is comparable to the mobs in the area then expect to find a dead team when you come back. Above the beginner levels the mobs have attacks that kick your team apart and out of auto. A good use for afk is when you’re levelling a new family member. Having that feature is a great time saving. There is a lot in SotNW and it’s free.

That's really a not a lot of quests, though. I just started playing LOTRO, and there's probably more quests than those in the starter area. And the grinding really starts once you hit level 100/Vet, when your exp counter goes to 00.0000 That's right, you have to kill about a million critters to reach 110/Expert. |

I liked this one, except for the endless grind and AFK leveling and no quests. |

Yeah, I really like this game as well, but I just don't have anything to do in it any more. I'm never going to reach Expert, so even grinding doesn't hold much charm anymore (Playing 15 hours in the Land of Death when I bought the items for it, I went up 1% point. I simply can't take 3 months of playing that much. At a more casual level, it would take me years). All the new maps coming to the game are basically expert only. I did some of the Katovic quests with a friend, but most of that consisted of just running as fast as we could to a given location, dying, setting a warp point and warping back to that location. Then back to the quest giver. I can't seem to find a clan that actually does anything in the game (like raid), the ones I've joined just AFK all day. And CW was fun, but my 2nd clan mostly had other clans do all the fighting for us, which made it rather cathartic. Part of the only fun I have any more with the game is when they release a new character, but even those are boring to level up, because it's the same old quest areas. I think if the game has a more reasonable level cap (one that didn't take a non-cash shop item user years to reach), then the community would spend less time AFKing and more time actually playing the game. I also think that Fire Island/Gigante Beach place has really ruined the game. People just spend all day farming there (or botting, in some cases), raking in tons of stuff, while the drop rate in other areas is terrible. (I think I've gotten something like 10 pioneer seals in Bahamar, yet not a single item drop, much less something good) |

yeah, but most quests in mmog's are pretty average or lame. the new quests are hi lvl except maybe some of the quests to get new characters. getting to expert is supposed to take a lot of time. what sux is that u don't get any boosts to your stats until you finally hit expert, so there aren't any little breadcrumbs that they throw your way to keep you motivated. T_T via fluvial is probably the best spot for afk xping (after u outlvl skull dungeon and topolo) without using the cash shop. it has a decent spawn rate and the mobs aren't too tough if u have the right gear. depending on your setup, you can actually get more total xp (with 3 chars) than someone soloing in the cash shop areas. i hate grind and i don't have that much time to play - so afk lvling is a godsend. i can keep up with more active players and plvl my lowbies. the pioneer equipment also makes it easy to stay geared up, compared to before. and at least they keep adding new content and areas on a regular basis (recent caebolan update) - though they seem to only be adding new hi lvl content - and to enjoy that you'll prolly need to hit expert QQ |

Oh yeah, if you don't have a lot of time to actively play, but do have the time to let your computer AFK, then Sword is a great (or at least good) game. But I'm really the opposite. I have time to kill, so I like actively playing games, even if the quests are dumb. (I spent last night delivering mail in the Shire in LOTRO) But beyond that, there's not much of a reward for actively grinding as opposed to AFKing. I guess you get drops, but in a lot of places, the drops really just suck (since even in most vet areas, you still get level 80 drops, or maybe a 88 if you are lucky). But 3-4 hours of active playing a day leaves you way behind someone who AFKs 15-20 hours a day, since you almost get the same amount of experience whether you play actively or not. |
