Captain Mako is the subject of the latest interview

Lead Designer Matt Miller continues our pre-E3 issue seven Q&A series with the fourth installment. Today we learn what awaits those who choose to follow the illustrious Captain Mako.

MMORPG.com:Who is Captain Mako?
Matt Miller:

Gideon Ray is a savage mutant who has evolved into what can only be described as a humanoid shark. His actions are even more terrible than his appearance, and few foes are even identifiable once Mako is through with them. Mako is responsible for the death of Sharkhead Isle's most famous hero, Scrapyard.

MMORPG.com:What kind of powers does Captain Mako grant players?
Matt Miller:

Mako grants the powers of the Coralax, sentient coral beings who hold sway over the powers of the world’s oceans. He has a variety of attacks including some that send shark spirits to attack foes.

MMORPG.com:What does Captain Mako have to offer each character class?
Matt Miller:

Stalkers and Brutes get ranged Spirit Shark attacks, while Corruptors will get armor in the form of Shark Skin. Dominators get Bile Spray, an AoE attack, and Masterminds get a mixture of all of the above. All the Archetypes except the Mastermind get the ability to summon a Coralax Hybrid in addition to their ultimate power.

MMORPG.com:Artistically, what were you trying to achieve with the spell effects in this line?
Matt Miller:

We wanted something unique with Mako’s powers. The Spirit Sharks are something we’ve never tried before, a totemic representation of an attack. In addition, we don’t have very many water based powers, so this gave us some free range to incorporate powers like Water Spray into the sets.

MMORPG.com:Why should players choose Captain Mako as their patron?
Matt Miller:

Mako is a vicious, mean, mutant, and any animalistic character would feel at home with his savage attacks. Plus it’s pretty cool to fling sharks and spray bile at enemies.
