Since nobody in the U.S. wants to publish it, it obviously isn't very good
i give a very small chance at being successful

| With PvE raiding it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fauning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privelege. - Neanderthal |

Just kidding. The main reason they did not find a US publisher yet was because Spellborn Inc does not allow publishers to actively influence / put pressure on the game development....
This game is not released unfinished, not released untill everything done, with a good reason... many MMO's in the past have been pushed to release to early... even WoW was pushed , and had a lot of problems in the first month after release... (espescially serverside)
But to find a publisher thats not allowed any influence in the deal... thats a too risky investments..and publishers are not in the game for the games but for the money.

Yep agree again with LB,The devs want to keep spellborn there game and is not a point "no-one wants to publish the game"it is a point that the devs havent found a publisher they want for the game and that is a huge difference. |

Of course, a rogue type class will want to move around more than say a warrior.. So it might take a bit of balancing..as all mmo's I'm pretty sure thats how its going to be, might be wrong so feel free to correct me.. I hope it doesn't turn out into a jump/strafe fest.. |

Re: My earlier comment. Aion is a smash hit basically if they release it. There's almost nothing they can do to screw it up. I mean we're talking the successor to the only MMORPGs with P2P model that can stand next to WoW and say "We have a number of players that can be compared to yours without inducing giggle fits." Jumpgate is always going to have a mediocre audience, even if it is the best game ever, simply because of what it is.
This COULD have a huge audience, but it will really have to work for it. Its going to have to show people that it isn't just AS GOOD as AoC, Aion, and Warhammer. It has to be BETTER for it to do as well as them. That's a tall order, but if they do it, its gold. I mean look at the hyped games of 2007. People couldn't wait for Vanguard. Tabula Rasa has been anticipated for years. LOTRO was handwaved, it had mediocre coverage and was developed by essentially a nobody, and it easily smacked down two games from two of the biggest name developers in MMO history. |

I think there are lot of people that are missing the bigger picture,Not every game has to be "the best"and the devs at TCoS are not as vain as alot of devs out there,They are making a great game(in my eye`s)and they are saying "this is the game we wanted to make enjoy it for what it is and not for what it isnt" They are leaving out alot of the norm i.e large raids, gear based gameplay and crafting timesinks,If you like the forementioned things then truth be told this game wont be for you,A game doesnt need 1million subs to be successful. There are more than enough gamers looking for a game of this type to be a success,It will have its haters.just like every other game but it will also have the players that enjoy it for what it is./endrant. |

Originally posted by daylight01No, not every game has to be the best. What you miss is that THIS game does. If it had released in 2007, all it would have had to do is provide a compelling, reasonably bug free experience that did not leave a horrible taste in peoples mouths to be a success. People would join, develop community, and it would have done very well (See LOTRO, which had many failings, but still turned out fine, from the developers point of view). It has chosen to release in 2008. This is in time with AoC, Aion, Warhammer, and Wrath of the Lich King. It has to do well enough to stand out in that crowd. This game has to do well enough that people have a compelling reason to pick it up and play it over any of those. That's a tall order. |

This game is very different to the likes of WAR,AoC and aion and it will capture its own group of players,I dont think it needs to be better than WAR etc to be a success. The way alot of people talk about WAR and AoC is almost like they honestly believe all other MMO`s will close down when they hit the shelves and that is not going to happen, even IF those games are what they promise to be(and I did say IF)there will still be room for other games and for sure there will be room for TCoS as it gives alot different mmo experience than the other releases due this year.People are attacted to TCoS because of other features like true skilled combat, gear only for looks,no big raids at end game to name a few,This game will be all about a players skill and the other games cant offer that. |
