Here is what I know about the game:

Tagline "past, present, future" is what the was all about.
Past, present  & future was a good idea but it looks like it didn't see the light of day. Basically it was supposed to be implemented with these quests that were suppose to take you back into the past before the world shattered - that would ultimately change the present/future.

I believe last time I checked in last with the community they decided to drop that whole thing. Ancestral quests they were called at the time.

Originally the game was going to be massive pvp, with 5 houses that were at war with each other and whoever's house had the most ancestral quests completed would get certain favours. It was a neat idea.

However, after reading about the game over a few years they pucified the game to become a wow knockoff with less content then wow and less customization then they originally promised (rumour). They fired everyone who was worth a damn and banned alot of people who helped build the community up originally.

Sine then I dont ever know if they listen to anyone who doesnt agree with their decision on how they want the game to be.

All I know is prior to this they made some crap ass fps game called Alpha Black Zero something. (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/alphablackzero/index.html?tag=tabs;summary) Really horrible game.

I know they have signed up some independant publishers for Germany, and some other European countries. Nothing for the US yet though... unless thats changed.
Khaeon studios was there original name, with which not a lot of good things has been said about, so pedigree is lacking, and they have had more developers hired and fired than a second hand Dart Board has "holes" in it. (part reason why hard to find US publisher, because of original foundations and background of company)

Later on in Spellborns life they remained in a long period of stagnant development, with a lot of original idea gone.

This game will be in my opinion, like PotBS, made out to be something different but wont deliever to the masses or the niche market something that hasn't been done before better.

I could go on, but really, its not worth the flames from the people who think they really know what going on.

Most of your information is very outdated. And even wrong.

May i ask you to edit your post....... You don't see us trashing AoC, do you? Both games will be great games.  But they can't really be compared with eachother...

I did edit it, I took out what I thought was over harsh, thanks for pointing that out, I wrote in a bit of a rush.

Basically the experience I had with the developers was unplesant. I hope issues of old are worked on to make a good game. Its not a trash its a prediction based on experiences, the companies past and how they treated their own staff and fans at an early stage in developement. I cant obviously post stuff so I can back up what I said, and this is only one side of the story, but still, thought I'd put my experiences across. Many of the original posts from 2 yrs back have been removed. Also I did say this was a while ago and hope its changed now for a better game.

Oh btw you called AoC a bugfest too citing German magazine which is outdated, if you read their latest hands on your find it different just like buffed.de did.

See you in Washington

Bah, I was gonna offer my opinion of what I felt the chances were for this game, but I changed my mind.

I'll just say that I hope it does well come release.

My anticipations for the game are quite high. As long as it comes out as everyone expects the hype will soon catch up and this may be the golden mmorpg all of us waited for so much time.

And about WAR, a game should take you from the first second you play. Not when you reach lvl xx. The game might be fun, but more as a WOW mod. Sorry that I said it, and YES I have read stuff about it.

I don't think I agree with you about WAR. It seems to me that posters on the WAR forum here at MMORPG and other sites are mostly PVPers, and that the first thing they are planning to do on launch day is hightail it over to the nearest RvR zone to kill each other. To them that is instant fun as they can level up that way.

I prefer to mix my pvp with good doses of exploration and pve, so I will probably have fun with the Tome and level a little bit before trying out an rvr zone... I like to know my toon's abilities  little bit before embarrassing myself in pvp :)

As for TCOS, I love what I know about it and will definitely be buying it, BUT I do think this game needs to release a couple of months before WAR if its going to keep a decent population when WAR releases. I have a feeling AOC will disappoint a lot of people...

I'm rooting for this game and think it will be great.  I'm ok with delays if they help the game play better, but it's up against some strong competition.  I'm just not sure how much more anyone can take of yet another WOW expansion.  Looking forward to something different.

The Prince of Pain

I predict the exact opposite of most and I think it's War and AoC that should be worried. I think this game has what it takes. No need to flame as I expect all of these games to do well and hope for the success of each. I will certainly be playing them all. In the long run, I see Spellborn standing the test of time. Just my prediction from what I've seen, read and heard.

I'm looking forward to a busy year grinding away to a favorite. Let's see where we end up....

Looking forward: AION, The Tower of Eternity

Well, it has all its chances if it's good from the beginning (no bugs, etc) but I think games like Aion comming out later in 2008 will seriously diminish this one's chances.

Thanks to Yakuzan for this 'hot' sign.

I'm hoping that TCoS will be a great game.  However, I don't think it will be released in Q1 because here it is Feb 19 and no release date has been set.

Also, I think the buzz about this game has faded a bit in the last 6 months.  I don't know if it's lack of marketing or lack of new info...

Edit: I just read on the official website that OB for Europe in April and Release in May.  Other continents to follow in Q2 and Q3.

Not a retired MMORPG.com mod

I am no longer interested in this game. It's going to be heavily instanced. Most dungeons and some quests as well as possible multiple copies of the same zone.

It is all vaporware until I see it go live!

Had they been able to release this game across the world from March-May they'd have gotten a great head start on their competition.

But more and more it looks like they're having trouble getting the game wrapped up and out the door (not like anyone else seems to be able to do any better) and if they release in the middle of the fray right beside AION, WAR and AOC there's a good chance it will get lost in the shuffle.

But, if it truly is a great game (haven't seen any of those in many years either) than it will rise up and prosper.

Sounds like a promising game and it could develop a loyal following, but it does not seem all that main stream to really grab a fair chunk of people.

My concern is that character development seems very similar to CoH. No 'gear', allocated buffs to skills etc., some stat point management. The whole costume thing is in line with CoH. That may be great for some people, but item hunters (and there's a lot of those out there) may be turned off before even giving it a try.

I doubt whether mainstream really cares about that at all. All they want is an immersive world, fun game play, quests to give us something to do and that sort of things.
