I just can't get excited about this game because of their lack of a US Publisher...this has been going on now for a liitle over a year and a half. Why no publisher? Something is wrong. |

Maybe potential publishers feel that the game just doesn't warrant the type of help they are looking for, or they feel it won't sell that well in the US? Maybe it isn't near ready for launch so there would be no point in trying to get a publisher so soon. |

Don''t mistake silence for stupidity.... |
It could have to do with the fact that two huge names are coming out soon and combined with Blizzard's WoW, publishers just don't see an indie type game doing well at this time. It really is a shame, as Spellborn does look like a good game, but I doubt it will garner any attention with the big boys coming out about the same time.
Perfect example of wrong time, wrong place. |

The game is being released with or with out a us publisher. They already have one in Asia and its looking very good indeed. You will have to buy the eu version if you want to play the game at release. |

Think with it is not a big deal to have US Publisher, look at f2p games , download a client patch and play, think more people should invest in this to save on production costs as well as cutting down the waste of materials like paper and plastic. |

I think publishers do more than just sell packaging... |

I think it has to do with the Spellborn developers wanting to have more control over the game than US publishers want to give.
I am not worried, but I am also planning to buy the Euro version. |

Originally posted by saivior From games that are coming out, it seems publishers are pushing devs in effort to get the money as fast as possible. Tcos developers don't want to give up the control.
But imo all that is needed is a small company that can keep the Us servers up and running and a digital download/purchase and they can get around us publisher completely.
Edit: Also, servers and clients won't be locked for regions, so you can play on european servers without problems. |

I hope they find a publisher soon. It would be disappointing for this game not be offered in the US |

live is like a box of..... |
either they find a US publisher soon Or you are allowed to buy the european version and play on the World-servers placed in europe
((SOE has all its world servers..even dedicated euro servers, placed in the US)) |

I do not think there is anything to worry about yet. The game will come out in Europe and teh NDA will lift. Then there will be real stories of what gameplay is really like. Most importantly if it swims it will get US support. Especially if it really does well. If it sinks in Europe then it wont make it anywhere. In theory, if it does well there could be several publishers bidding up the rights. I too may very well play as soon as they open up European servers. I think it will be well worth the minor investment as I am really interested in what I am reading so far. |

Even if their is no US publisher can you still somehow get this game in the US ? I'm not expecting AoC to go over very well, and Warhammer is delayed. TCoS looks good so are we out in the cold for now ? |

From what I see, many people are going to try to get a copy of the game once it hits shelves in the EU. Sounds like you won't be stopped from playing from the US on a EU server. This may just keep me out of AoC depending upon its Euro release. There is still no set date to dangle in front of us for an American release....only to be pushed back, lol. And no publisher too. Someday this will take off. I just hope it succeeds and is half the fun as it looks. |

Without a US publisher... I really wonder how this game will do. I'd like for the game to do well. But the closer they get to launch without a US pub... and the longer they wait after launch to get a US pub... the more it will hurt the game. Perhaps they are waiting for their initial $$$$$ to come in from EU sales before working with a US pub? With the US $dollar$ in the shape that it is, they will probably do well with the exchange rate during negotiations. lol |

Last November TCoS got a big publishing deal in Japan, "...the license deal is one of the largest closings for a single product for the territory of Japan in the history of PC games." It is extremely unlikely they could have made that deal for a poor-quality game, since it included a substantial cash advance. Several major US publishers already have their own MMO's in release or development. The competition this year and beyond is going to be intense.
