Armor and weapons are customizable but are really no different than anything else.   This gives you the ability to customize your characters looks which I believe to be very a very cool factor.

There is another sort of gear...for those who play WoW think of them kinda like gems.  These affect your attributes...or grant you other factors...

So while your armor and weapons are fully malleable and you can have them your style.  The gear that will matter will not affect your appearance but I am sure ya will still have to farm for the good ones.
