There was an official announcement (from Mirage) in thread . It states the following:
It took some time to get back to you, and to make a long story short, as Publisher Frogster stated in the press release, release has been postponed to Q4 2007. Frogster, along with us TCoS developers, agreed on aiming for a high-quality release for Spellborn in the last Quarter of 2007. We know this decision is not always easy for you Community Members to accept, but this way we’re making sure we’ll deliver a great gaming experience, because we want the best for this little project of ours. |

Not exactly the most surprising development. I have to commend the developers for the decision and more importantly, the publishers who are most often the ones putting the screws to the studio to get the project done. Undoubtedly they could use the cash flow now, but Vanguard (and other recent MMORPG releases with poor showings due to lack of content and bugs, such as DnL and DDO) has illustrated that the only certain result of a premature release is a bankrupt studio. |

The news had already been posted, but only by frogster (the publishers) so there was some confusion about how to interpret it. Some thought it was delays in translation, or only for certain regions.
This is the first instance of the delay being officially announced to the community by someone working directly for the spellborn team. |
