Your tears sustain me.

So I have seen many polls asking alot of the standard stuff like: What faction will you play? What race? What class? etc.  But I was curious about another area of the game and I wanted to see where people stand on it.

This is purely to engage people in some possitive discussion and I hope this turns out well.  I am always interested in seeing how other's playstyles differ from my own.

Now on to the question (about time right?).  What do you plan to focus your time on with your first character? Will you focus on PvE questing and PQs?  Will you rush right into PvP and start earning your renown ASAP?  Will you explore the world and look for hidden lairs and secret quests?  Will you be spending alot of time in social hubs chatting the days away?  Do you plan to do a balance of everything?

I personally think I won't be able to resist the urge to level up ASAP and try to see some of the cool armor sets and focus on making a name for myself ingame (for good or ill).

What about you? Feel free to elaborate.

Forum Poll

What will be your first character's focus?

PvE: Quests and PQs ftw!
PvP: Scenarios and Keep Sieges pewpew.
Exploration: Whats over that hill?!
Socializing: So how about that weather?
Mix: So much to do, so little time!

"We gotta go to the crappy town where I''m a hero."

I have always been an explorer so I will definitely be checking over that next hill, but now this time I may run over the hill into a pack of orcs, going to be good times.

But I am also really looking forward to the public quests, they look like they are going to be a lot of fun (crosses fingers)

The Original Hater

You should also ask HOW do they plan to pve?

Public quests unlock phat lewtz that help you level up...

quest unlock xp and gold

scenerios unlocks items and Abilities with minor xp compared to quest

I actually plan on gathering a good core group of whomever i see around playing the first 3 days and will do the public quest hard core. I will start out slower in the beginning but will have better gear by the time I hit tier 3 and wont have to worry about getting rolled by invaders in tier 3 since I will have a balanced group with me as the healer.

sa the poll is now, it seems that most will do a mix :) I for one wants a bit of everything, to experience the full game, not only the rvr part, or the pve part :) i want it all, baby!

Why must we as gamers bring real life into the games we play?

 Heya,

Well, for me, I will go out and just kill stuff and keep killing stuff as far as "how" goes.

If someone asks for help then by all means I would do what I could to help, and at the same time explore the world,be grabbing crafting mats. ,and killing as many High Elf pansies as possible (hehe) .

Nice thread OP,thanks.

PvP of course...  Same for all my characters.  That is what is drawing me to this game in the first place.  I will do all the other stuff, but my primary focus will be on PvP.  I just hope the game turns out to be what we all expect.

The reason why I buy WAR is simple - PvP. And what should I then start off by doing in WAR - PvP.

When i first heard about WAR while playing DAOC i was like omg cool a new and better DAOC. Well this means pvp at it s best. I got into beta and have to say i picked the last one. As much as i love the pvp it s absolutely amazingly fun , but the wrld is just great:) Pve is awesome but i can t describe anymore hehe. So ya i picked the so much to do one, it s a great all around experience.

Honestly, ill probably do a mix:

I'll start off with pve, and run along that. In between pve, ill do pvp stuff for a break, explore, socialize, and craft depending on my mood.

In later game ill pvp purely.

Just my two cents.

it will take about a year and a half to assimilate the wow and eq players into the rvr mentality.

when all the wow players get there, they will try to play WAR like its wow. so all you have to do is kill them at the quest hubs. they wont want to pvp.... just like in wow how people only fight when they have a class or level advantage on you. in daoc you fought every time you saw anyone from the enemy realm. realm pride was huge.

but after playing for about a year and change, everyone will become killers. it will be like South central LA in the 90's ... just gangs roaming all over the place trying to kill eachother

WOW was more like taking the gangs and putting them in the YMCA to play kickball insted of letting them in the streets.

Now that is one of the best analogies I have heard in a while.

I hope there is a huge level of realm pride in this game.  I for one will be a hardcore advocate of "red = dead" when I see any enemy player.

but you cannot kill people in quest hubs, only in RvR zones.unless you were talking of pvp Quest hubs?
