Can't say if it has changed or not, but I know that in PW as a (chosen) chicken I had 150 hp and pecked for 4 damage normally, and yes you do appear to be able to crit with it. A guildmate of mine got chickened as a sorcerer and also had 150 hp so I'm going to guess it's not class dependent.

What would be really cool is if they turned you into chickens on steroids that could still complete some of the lower content, but would be easily defeated by non-chickens.

Maybe code that would adjust their power depending on their adversary or something.

That could be fun! :)

Well, this new rule set is a solid step in the right direction from my viewpoint.  Closest thing we'll probably ever get to a FFA server.

My Opinion,

I had planned on playing the "open" ruleset, but I'm disspointed to see chicken remains in the game for "open" servers.  This is not because I enjoy ganking lowbies, but I don't want to be chickenized for just zoning into a lower tier area to do content I missed with my avatar.  As you can see from the rules "players are always RVR flagged from the moment they log in" and "Players will be chickened when entering lower tiers of content."  The rules cover nothing about actually being in combat first.  

This is most disappointing as I do like both content and RVR.  I will now stick to "core" ruleset server.  However, just my opinion on the matter, what the hell do I know.   

I had this exact issue with it in beta all along.  I was legitimently trying to cap out influence in those zones as I flew past them leveling up that I had to go back to progress my story. I wish there was an easy way for them to fix it but it is tough in a PvP world.  They don't want to allow ganking...cool!  Just find a way for me to quest their, if I make the first attack, fine im chickened but if I don't attack leave me unflagged.

This is how the game works on "core" servers.  You can be level 40 and go back to tier 1 to do quests if that really floats your boat.  As soon as you become flagged, however, you are chickened.  If you want the threat of rvr at any time then just stay flagged when you log in, except of course when you go to a lowbie area to do a quest and the like :)

So your upset because chicken is still on and you can't farm some lvl2 players as 38?

It's noobs like you whining on forums that make PVP so fun in MMO's.....

Greifing new players/low level is not respectable at all.

I love the idea of open RvR but.. This whole chicken idea really takes away the whole 'war' theme they are pushing..

Because, like in War, everyone plays fair am I right? Pffftt..

And to think this is supposed to be the premier PvP mmo coming out in a long time and the majority of posts are from people whinging about ganking and how the chicken idea is wonderful.

Being ganked while leveling just increases the drive for  the majority of people to keep leveling! Those that bitch and cry belong on a normal server. I mean it was fine in WoW.. Yes there was ganking, but that gave opportunity for higher level players to come down and help. Very enjoyable to watch for lowbies, seeing their classes pushed to the limit in the upper tiers, giving them something to aim for.

All that aside though, I will still give the game a go.

My 2 cents though.. If open RvR is supposed to be the premier PvP server type, the chicken rule shouldn't be used as this is supposed to be the most hardcore PvP style of play.. You can't deal with that? Go back to a normal server imo.

The chicken rule should stay. higher level players have no business in the lower tiers in an open pvp environment.

I applaud the developers for finally creating a system in which ganking and power leveling are pretty much not a concern.

Honestly, when I saw the end of that video I was laughing hard.  I for one look forward to many chicken related events.
