I am under the impression you do not and that is the reason why I would play on the core ruleset over the open. I actually LOSE freedom in the "open" set. Now if I am wrong then I'll have to say open is still better even if it isn't optimal.


 

Core: You can go back to lower-level zones freely. Just don't enter the RvR areas or turn on your PvP flag.

 

Open: The moment you cross the zone border: "POOF!" Chicken.

The thing is that boss that you find in lairs ar mostly lvl 40 and outlvl the zone by a lot. This is really dumb imo. open pvp is supposed to be open pvp. Only a complete moron would roll on an open pvp server and the bitch about being ganked. Who cares if people complain they can go to a regular server. I don't plan to play on an open pvp server but if that was my play style I would hate these rules and just go to a normal server anyway. May as well not have the open rule server if they going to make it carebear style.

I'm kinda bummed and happy at the same time with the "Chicken in lower content areas" idea.  It would get kind of tedious at times, but it would get rid of all the ganking.  Who knows, maybe they'll do some change with it to make it not QUITE as bad.
