You can find real answers here

http://forums.darkfallonline.com/index.php

Secondly it's already been stated that Aventurine wants you to try the game free of charge before spending any money on it. No pre-order to get into beta ect. Beta starts Oct. 08 so I would sign up and atleast try it,.

Both games got hyped up too much and will ultimately be a let down in some major area's. Good business ethics like Mythic and DF does such as promising the earth in podcasts and interviews is only setting anyone interested up for a big fail, I mean fall.

there was more than that in the vid and in a screenshot.

AOc couldnt do it because of the high end gfx

they should abuilt a whole new engine for AOC

Forums Are For Discussion. Let us discuss productively and respectfully!

Sometimes you come up with a concept, and it's brilliant. But by the time you can implement it, time has marched on, things have changed, and your brilliant concept isn't a big deal anymore.

I'm just saying that if DF had released back in 2003 or 2004 it would have made quite a splash. But now, there are simply dozens of MMORPGs releasing, or scheduled to release. And more PvP is on the horizon as well, including Warhammer.

See I can accept that but the one thing that still sets Darkfall apart is the freedom for the players.  That is what I love about Darkfall, I will use my imagination again.

But, as I posted in another thread, will the game give too much freedom to players? We all know there are huge guilds out there that exist ONLY too grief and exploit the game and cause as much havoc on a server as possible.

So how many times will it take that you lose all of your gear before you quit?

How many times will it take for you to get griefed by a guild exploiting game mechanics before you quit?

Will you continue to play the game and pay the monthly fee when you cannot even login and play because some huge guild has taken over everything?

Freedom is fun for sure; but we all know players will abuse that freedom in every possible way in game and ultimately create a playing environment that is not fun for anyone. When that happens, the game loses players in huge numbers and slowly dies. I would hate to see that happen to Darkfall because it is such a unique idea and concept. However, given the experience and history of the market, it might sound great on paper but in execution it doesn't work. And then thing that recent game have proven is that Darkfall will have ONE chance to draw-in players before its pushed to the trash heap of game failures. And I seriously do not want to see that happen.

Well hopefully the world will be large enough (without instant teleports) that you will never have to bump into the major Guilds if thats what you want. You will basically miss out on the richest resource areas where they will all be flocking leaving you to do your thing in quieter but less abundant areas. And if you don't get the point of this system maybe this isn't the game for you.

it will be, which is one of the reasons i cant wait for this game.

look how big the world of EVE is, you can avoid the areas where the largest uber guilds hang out.

there is 0 chance that a guild will be able to take over an entire server, the world is simply too big

if they had released in 2003, it would not have made a splash at all, it would have tanked.  the developers did something us players wish companies would do more often...own up that the game was in terrible shape and delayed the release (in DF's case, started over).

they took pride in their product and when it releases, it will be their best effort.
