For weeks we were promised a gameplay video.  That is exactly what we got.  We weren't promised a video that would show-case all features of darkfall.  We weren't promised a crafting tutorial.  We weren't promised a walk-through of the character creation process.  We got EXACTLY what we were promised.   Hey look at me!!!

altho i dont care that much about graphics i must say they suck bigtime, worse then EQ1.. on the other hand i didnt expect top notch graphics from the small company thats making this mmo. and low graphics make it possible for big "epic" fights altho most DF fans would buy a topend pc if that was required to play the game.

altho u see a lot of elements in the trailers like naval fights all i saw was some clunky orcs/humans or w/e pounding eachother, u cant see how the skill system works ingame, also the spell animations were really unimpressive, even with that graphics engine u can create nice animations. and its cool u can destroy everything but the buildings simply vanish when they go down..

in trailers u dont see the real gameplay, its just a demonstration of the game, best is to wait for beta and some vids of testers before u actually can claim anything about this game. u can only judge the graphics from the trailer, id say they deffo need work but it aint that bad

Full loot and open PvP - the two things that are the cornerstone of Darkfall's popularity - are NOT exactly amazing feats of programming. Any game can have them.

Are you seriously trying to claim that Aventurine lied about

1 - FPS combat?

2- Full loot?

3- Open PvP?

Oh wait, you're not trying to claim anything are you, you're just another troll.

This an example of a game from a very small studio which in a way has redifined the genre and has had big success.  I don't know why the nay-sayers find it so hard to give Aventurine the benefit of the doubt until release.

 

It's also an example of a game that was only in development for a little over 3 years, not 7+

After reading this thread I've decided not to return to the DF forums until 2009.  The massive amount of blind faith in Adventurine is more then I can stand to keep reading through.

We are not saying that the video isn't real, we are saying that they lefr out pretty much every fancy feature they claim to have. You know, sieges, player cities, and all the stuff us MMORPG fans want. Instead, we get a video with Oblivion combat and some simple animations. Go back to your warhammer board because by your post history you are a WAR fan only. Stop trolling other game boards.

Lets turn the tables on you, several months ago I dont recall any Warhammer video showing all the features mythic was saying thats in WAR, only when the release date got closer did more videos come out and theres no differance with DF. Once a release date is set more videos will be released showing more gameplay features. So again stop trolling our boards, you are a fan of Warhammer. Great stay over there and enjoy your game, and we will enjoy ours.

What does me liking WAR have to do with Darkfall? Nothing, stop using post history to justify an invalid argument. I wasn't trolling, I honestly wanted to see your arguments on the gameplay examples DF has given because that 'gameplay' video let the audience down. But apparntly anything besides epic praise for DF is ingnored or spammed with cut-paste flames.

No.  No one is puttin your opinion down because you are talking negatively about the game.  It is because you make wild claims like the above quote with no substance or even give any room for the chance that you may be wrong and not know what the entire market audience thinks about this game.

The gameplay video dropped the jaws of many and others didnt like it, thats how it is.

However I can at least support my opinion that the video was well accepted by the community by pointing out the rapid increase in members on the main website and the numerous posts of once skeptics now turned into hopefulls.

It isn't about liking the video or disliking it, it is about the content and what we learned from it. All I saw was simple combat and some walking around, not siege/boat/player city content, which I would have loved to see.

You didnt see boat combat?  lol did you even watch the video?

That was one of the few scenes where you actually DID see the combat from a first person perspective.  Give it a rest.

Those graphics reminded me of Wolfenstien, and not the most recent one either.  I'm talking old Wolfenstein 90's graphics.  This looks like crap.  I'm sorry, but anyone that says graphics don't matter at all is lying.  Gameplay is #1, but you can't have complete turd for your graphics and still expect that nobody will care.

DF is comming regardless of how many times the trolls try to put it down.  You forget that people have that whole free will thing and tend to make their own opinions.
