Some how we have never played this chapter in MMO history. We are currently kinda bored waitng on WAR and we love EQ2, but need a break from it for a while What is the most populated server in EQ1? Any tips for a couple noobs doing some retro gaming? |

If life is but a dream, then why must we row so hard? |
Try going to Everquest.com, they even have their own boards, with years of information and tips. |

| With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal |

Hello :) I personally still love EQ - (8yrs worth).. although, I haven't played it in awhile. The server I loved was Luclin.. PvE btw.. Peeps there seemed to be mature & helpful. I believe, all my char's are still there, just waiting for me to come back to em Which ever server you pick, I hope you & your wife have many great hours of fun together!!

I've been playing recently. People on Bristlebane seemed really nice to me as a newbie there. I recommend getting the pack with all the expansions. Do the tutorial and then Crescent Reach. Quest givers there are marked, and you can get some starter gear that way. Don't be shy asking people around you for help and advice. Most people are pretty nice. |

Having that additional person to play with should make playing a lot more enjoyable (if you guys decided to two box, that makes it even more interesting). I can't imagine what it would be like playing EQ for the first time currently. I remember how large and nearly overwhelming the game felt when it first came out, I can't imagine what that would be like playing it today with all the expansions, items and quest. Enjoy! |

The tutorial is probably a good option 'if' he was playing by himself, however if he and his wife play together it might be neat to play in your home cities starting area. If they are playing for the first time it will give them a better appreciation for the game. |

Go to Firiona Vie. You can only create 1 toon per account that I can remember (unless they changed that requirement already - been a while) but the server has a no no-drop rule, with the exception of epics and a few other items, thus more people join that server. You can basically find high level drops being sold in the Bazaar without having to go through the trouble of raiding. Mind you, from what I remember the economy on FV is horrendous. |

Hi there, unfortunately you join the game well too late my friend, EQ died a long time ago, you have now something completely different. But hope is not lost, if you wanna experience something which is very close to the original EQ, you should have a look at this link
http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/intro_features.htm
There is around 300 people at peak times and I think that's as close as you can get to the original game.

I have played EQ1 for about 3 years (with some breaks). Started when it was released. The newer models are ugly, unproportional and are animated really bad. I think they came with the 3rd? expansion (Shadows of Luclin). The old ones may have less detail but they were just much better in every other way. Unless I have missed infos about a player character model update the Luclin models are still in game exactly like they were back then. I have my doubts that you will enjoy this game nowadays due to the lack of players in lower levels and the difficult content that really needs groups. Leveling was quite slow. Other than that the early game really didn't have too much quests which is uncommon for a current gen MMO. It was pretty much grinding / exploring / doing dungons and raids with the guild. And I really liked it. It was great fun, we had great experiences and we did a lot of crazy stuff, but there were so many people in all level ranges back then, I can't see that happening today. |
