Elona is a diverse continent of both dreams and nightmares. On its fertile surface lie the wealthy and powerful provinces of Istan, Kourna and Vabbi, their people enjoying lives of luxury amid magnificently prosperous Moroccan-inspired cities. But there is also the formidable desert of Desolation, an arid, acrid region who‘s dwellers know only the hardship the hot, naked desert brings.

And then there’s the Realm of Torment, a terrifyingly nightmarish, insect-ridden other-worldly area which manages to exist outside of physical space. The nightmare continues as a ruler, heeding the malevolent call of madness, endeavors to set upon his kingdom a mysterious god of pure evil Soon all of Elona may know only the desolate despair of darkness. Hurry brave hero, night is falling.

Guild Wars Nightfall is the third in a series of stand-alone “campaigns” set in the Guild Wars CORPG universe, following the Guild Wars Prophecies and Guild Wars Factions campaigns, and has been in development since November 2005 with a scheduled release date of October 27, 2006. Little is known about Nightfall, but two major additions have been confirmed. First are the two new professions available beyond the six core professions. They are the Dervish, a sort of holy warrior who wields a scythe, uses many different enhancements and has the ability to temporarily transform into a godly likeness, and the Paragon, a spear throwing support class capable of aiding all nearby allies by shouting and chanting. Second are the customizable heroes which take the place of NPC bot henchmen available in the first two campaigns. Unlike henchmen, customizable heroes level up with the player, follow player instructions, can have their skills and equipment selected by the player and can even be used in Hero vs. Hero PvP.
