I don't really see how anyone can answer this until both games are live.
I mean I could give a statement which *I* personally believe... but it would just be my perspective.
What I will say is people who charm up Mythic talking about DAoC and its great RvR probably haven't played it lately. The probably aren't in WAR beta either (which I am).
But ^^ is just going to be perspective (aka my opinion where I'd go from there). I also really don't know much about Aion other than what I've read (aka ny personal experience).
So I just go back to..
I don't really see how anyone can answer this at the current time (without breaking at least one NDA altho I guess Aion is in beta in Korea? as well).
Well everyone can state how "they" feel. I don't know overall what numbers they could get back.
*I* personally would reactivate most of my accounts for Pre-CU.
Why?
Quite simply there is nothing else out.. and nothing coming out. Any NON level based game that is skill based coming up... is by small underfunded companies and I've already taken that ride. (they may have the best of intentions but they just don't have the capital to pull it off long term).
So while the market is just full of EQ/WoW clones... it will never be to late for *me*.
Its really a wonder that the people at LEC and SOE can be this brain dead... Then again I don't think even to this day...
They have figured out:
1) Warcraft = computer game series
2) Star Wars = Movie IP
1) may translate into a very hyped MMO that does well on name brand.
2) Was mostly made up of a fan base that probably didn't play video games or even own a gaming computer (my uncles etc watched all the star wars movies.. they are all in their late 60's and early 70's and don't play.. computer games).
Oh well.
Personally wish that since Sir Howard has made the gaming division a priority.. that someone would wake him up to this abortion... Smedley may be able to make snide comments to us.. I'd like to see him in a discussion with Sir Howard about..
"there will be no rollback.. losing money is good"
I mean I'd pay to see it on pay-per-view...

Ive long suspected the UI changes and quasi-fps combat was done to make porting the game to PS3 easier. Once the players all quit that plan died.
The chat functions alone was majorly stripped down and simplified. There can be no other reason for this than porting to console.
Smedley swears up and down there were never any plans to port SWG to console.
Of course, Smedley has no credibility at all, so this exclamation is worth bupkis.
Smedley's completely full of shit on that one.
Of course they were going to port it to PS3.
If you read some statements made by Hayden Blackman of LEC... They started their plans for multi platform the same year as the NGE.
Amazon didn't just mysteriously have a listing for a SWG guide for PS3 because they thought it was a good idea. They were sent information and prematurely listed it.
blah blah
epic fail and complete BS on the denial.

Heres to hoping that GB goes smoothly.
it will :)
i can not wait until the NDA is lifted . i have so much i want to say about WAR ... it's killing me to keep my mouth shut !
Personally I can't wait for all the people waiting to play the game and tell me their point of view.. rather than trying to sell them mine.
I'm in beta as well and probably wouldn't have the same kind of things to say as you... but that's why I kind of can't wait for a bunch to get in and try it for "real".
I will say that the beta is being run very professionally regardless of how I feel about the product.. which is something positive to say the least.
Yes there were many more options before.
They actually reduced the options when they put helms in..
In art terms what it means is they didn't use "attatchment nodes" in the original models.
If you've done this type of art work before then you'll know what I mean. If not it might be hard to explain..
Most likely when they bring the options back with the *new* models.. they won't be so much new.. as they will have been done properly.
Then again if some of the stories are true.. it really wouldn't be suprising that the people who tried to finish the game didn't have the experience to do it.
(edited: basicly an attatchment node is a "bone" you put in various places on a model. As an example on top of the head.. and then you would be able to attach a helm to it. The polygon reduction was their way of getting around this while the models were re-done.)
How many hours per day do you play MMORPGs?
