I know why they are doing this to you. It is because they hate you. It has nothing to do with what a company needs to do. Which is to make money.

Dude, the game is out now! Yes, it is totaly free. All you have to do is find the download link on there web site. It is hard to find it might take a while. I think it is somewhere in the FAQ.

- question on remote sensor dampners
What they do is lower the Max targeting range of the targeted ship. Example If a ship can target 100km normally. If you put one damper on them It will cut that range down to 50 KM. Put another damper and then they can only target 25. (this isn't actual amounts I just them to show how they work)
So they help you by if you can't target the asteroid you are trying to mine, then you can kill it. The same happens if your enemy can't target you.
