• • So I tried the veteran trial. Dazed and Confussed.

  • SWGNGE might as well be a single player game.

    Don't really need anyone for anything. Everyone gets 2 toons a server, one combatant, one crafter to sell loot and make the very few things a person even needs. Play jedi? No need for conventional weapons or armor, at all, and you can loot everything else or get them as quest rewards.

    Pathetic.

  • Someone said it before but I will say it again...to the MMORPG.COM mods... please sticky this thread.

    And people wonder why we vets are still upset over what was taken from the game.

    Maybe reading this, they will see how much was in there and now, how much isn't.

  • The thing you forget is that Sigil had no other revenue source besides Vanguard, and when that tanked, the company went under and most people got the sack.

    Icarus, on the other hand, has already sold/licensed their MMO making tool set to several other companies, so they have money coming in. The devs have said they can/will self-publish if that is the right decision for them, and all but said SOE will not be touching their game. And nothing certain "haters" can say will change that.

    Go read more about it on the official forums and get it from what the devs have said themselves.

    And this game deserves better than the Station Pass Graveyard, regardless.....

  • Personally, I don't rely on ANY "official" reviews from any site for an MMO, and it is mostly 2 reasons.

    First reason, as was mentioned earlier, is that many of these sites are paid advertisers of the games they review. How can anyone trust the so called gaming "press" when they do not disclose the financial relationship(s) they have with the companies whose products they are reviewing? No tin-foil hat stuff here, but when any kind of analyst reviews a stock or mutual fund in the financial press, the analyst discloses if they, their family, or company has an interest in the thing they are recommending. Not so here.

    The second is that because of time pressures to review while a product is "new" or just released, there is no possible way a reviewer can/will play the game long enough to be able to review things like end game content, player association tools, if the economy works well, etc. etc. and have any level of credibility. And the new player areas tend to be the most polished and shiny, so a reviewer can't even make a good judgement based on playing all their time there, either. And that goes for any site, not this one. This can be done for single player games, but not MMOs. And I always ignore the "number" rating of what a game gets, where are the criteria? Are the fanbois pumping it up or the haters dragging it down? Can't trust it.

    I either play the beta of a game, go over to a friend's house that is playing a new game or read the forums extensively before I buy/try an MMO these days. Been burned enough times throwing down the $50 for a game that is 1 inch deep because of all the hype.
