Although the new version has been patched to our servers, there are some quite obvious issues that we will be working on over the next couple of weeks, hence the lack of an official announcement regarding this update.
Despite an extensive beta testing phase, this is an unfortunate consequence of our limited budget and development team. We simply do not have the resources, hardware, or budget to be able to test this version fully before publishing it to the live servers.
As soon as we are happy with this release, we will make an official announcement.
Until then, please enjoy our efforts, and feel welcome to post your feedback either here, or in the Official DarkSpace forums.
You can also download the latest version from our Downloads Page, where we have a number of verified mirrors that may offer faster download speeds than the torrent listed above.
Read the Development Log for a list of some of the changes to date.
We wish to thank you all for your time and forbearance while we iron out the remaining issues, and for supporting DarkSpace through the years.
Infinity has just begun...
Well, maybe in Two Weeks™.
Kindest Regards,
- The DarkSpace Development Team
WAR is not a great MMO, but it certainly sets a standard that other games need to match up to. Unfortunately though, it still falls a little short of GuildWars in terms of overall playability and the player feeling involved in the storyline. There are also many elements which have been lifted almost directly from WoW and other games, although I do like the quest locations not being marked out precisely. It requires the player to look around within a certain area, instead of being led directly to to the end result.
The term "next generation" gets used too much, especially when no one has yet defined that term for use in MMO's. What will the next generation of online games need to include?
I think our biggest hopes are possibly going to be Stargate:Worlds, and maybe GuildWars 2.
I make it up as I go along - has worked for me so far...
A certain amount is down to 'feel', the rest is all statistics.
Sadly, 4x games (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, and eXterminate) in an MMO format still has not been done successfully. The only game that comes to mind is Face of Mankind, although I think that may be due to be shut down.
Good luck in your search.
Based on what is printed directly on the box not matching up to the product itself, then it is always possible.
False advertising.
It should certainly be possible in the UK due to our trading standards policies.
