    • I'll jump on the 'housing kinda sucks' bandwagon. I played SWG and after that DAoC. DAoC had some hook points, but only for specific features, like crafting tables and vendors. Players were free to decorate at will.

My primary frustration is that it's a trend with Turbine to put something in, even if it isn't really great, just so they can check it off of a list of features to slap on the marketing. They were warned, loudly and almost unanimously, by the participants on the testing server that housing was going to land with a dull thud and it did.

As far as I am concerned, housing in LOTRO is just a slightly larger but much more difficult to access bank vault. Housing has a lot more functionality and appeal in other MMOs.

      Godwin in play. Thread over.

The entity/ies which control/s the copyrights and liscensing for multi-media projects and products in relation to the written works of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkien were consulted and had final approval, as reported in the New York Times.

Or is that not quite specific enough for you?

Its not splitting hairs at all son, Tolkien Enterprises is an independent company that bought the rights to LOTR and The Hobbit a long time ago, Tolkien Estate are the authors immediate family members, the latter is suing the former, its hard to get much seperate than that, hard to say that is "splitting hairs". Just because the name is similiar doesnt mean anything, especialy if you want to be correct, as I was, after the other dude told me I was completely wrong. Im right, and I like being right, specifically. It happens a lot so get used to it.

Of what relevance is that to the discussion at hand?

Does it change the reality that there is an entity which has the power to veto aspects of the game which violate the lore of Tolkien's writings, and entity which would not and did not give the approval for full PvP servers?

The name of that entity is besides the point. Everyone here understood the point. Your 'rightness' on the name of the entity is about as important to the discussion as if you had taken issue with my punctuation choices. So yea, you are just splitting hairs to be a nit-picky smart ass. You're kind of 'right' is very small and petty, so please do suck what little enjoyment there is in being that kind of right.

Habbo might be the worst suggestion ever. The game is known for sickos looking for kids to prey on.

Find a game that has some kind of moderation or supervision so she can report any harassment. Most pay-to-play MMOs are going to be more reliable and safe in that respect.

LOTRO is a good option. It isn't graphic, there isn't much in the way of gore or skin. She can choose to sit around and chit chat while she crafts, fishes, plays music, or dresses up her character with the outfit system. When I babysit for my 11 year old niece, she sits at the Auction House and buys clothes to put on my characters.  I have a guildie that spent the entire first year of the game sitting in the Shire just chatting with people, never broke L20 until just recently. Most of the starter areas have mostly non-aggressive mobs and safe roads, so she would be able to get around without being forced to fight. They also keep the PvP in a seperate zone, so she wouldn't be harassed by gankers. The community is also mostly friendly and polite.

Whatever game she plays, make sure someone will be able to check in on who she's talking to and what they are saying. The are a lot of freaks and pervs out there.

The difference is they know that going in before they purchase the game and fork over months worth of subscription fees. They are playing the game they paid for, which wasn't the case with the NGE.
