    • First MMO I cancelled in the free month...but its not all bad
    • I guess everyone has their own tastes. Out of dozens of mmos I thought AoC was the worst, and in my case that was the first one I ever cancelled in the free month. You on the other hand seem to like it. I've been enjoying WAR since january when I got in beta, and will continue to subscribe.

Oh well, at least you gave it a try mate. thanks for the writeup.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Why even heal anymore?
    • You are talking about xp, but on the other side of things, In my experience the arch mages were almost always the top RP earners in scenerios, sometimes more than twice as much as damage dealers, before the patch. I don't know what their rp earnings are after the patch yet, havent played enough to see the trends. But at least from the rp side it may have been brought more in line with what everyone else was earning.

Doesn't matter how long they make the campaign, in fact longer is worse in some regard - RTS single player gameplay typically gets stale before you hit the end of one races campaign, and its the switching to different campaigns that keeps everything fresh and unique. All this means is we will have to trudge through three times as much staleness before getting to the fresh stuff. There is simply not enough variety in gameplay in a single race to be considered a full game's worth of content. Its like releasing an mmo with one class, additional classes purchased by expansion (oh oh... i hope i didnt just give them a bad idea).

Ultimately, every RTS ever released has shipped with multiple campaigns, and this will ship with one. If you think this is actually a positive move for the industry... by all means support it.

What I find odd is that no one jumped on Guild Wars for charging full price for each installment and yet the rules are somehow different for Blizzard.

The problem is not about having installments. The problem is the amount of content and variety contained within a single installment. RTS's are by nature, not that deep within a single 'faction'. There is little room to change things up. The best they can hope for is some additional storyline. Guild Wars came with many classes to choose from. And I bet you the number of hours of content in guild wars is several times what the starcraft content will be. You are comparing apples to oranges.

This topic looks like another standard Blizzard hate fest for the sake of hating on Blizzard.

Don't fall into the ignorence trap of labeling everyone as a hater if they don't support this move. I have nearly all blizzard games released to date and I thought WoW was a great mmo. I have no longstanding blizzard hate like many others in this community. But realistically an RTS with only one faction compaign is a huge step back for the genre.

I don't like PvP combat.
I think it is the best part about MMORPG's.
I don't care either way.
