Not to be a downer, but don't get TOO excited. Darkfall has a history of missing betas, the first missed beta being 2003. They've promised to release in 2008. I don't think that's realistic, but I'm hoping they can start up a beta before the end of the year *crosses fingers*. If they don't have a beta by the end of the year, it will be the death knell of this game.
They won't ban China, don't worry.
They haven't had a beta yet, although they announced beta back in 2003 and 2005. According to Taos, they hired a person(s) to test the game internally.
I don't see how pointing out that Darkfall has a history of broken promises is trolling. I don't think it's trolling to point out that the list of game features has been grossly exaggerated (or do you really believe Darkfall is bigger than Warcraft, with mounted combat as good as Mount & Blade, and ship combat that is better than Pirates of the Burning Sea?).
So relax, the negative vibes will NOT stop Christmas from coming.
Honestly, I'd wait to make sure they actually run a beta before you go promoting the game. Remember they promised beta in 2003 and 2005, and nothing ever came of it.
Don't get me wrong. I hope there is a beta this year. I hope the game is released this year, as promised, and turns into a whopping success. However, due to past history I've no intention of signing up for yet another beta - it's just not worth it. I'll wait until the game is released, and if gets good reviews, I'll dive in with great enthusiasm.
