Biography

I have two main ambitions in life, at this time. This first is to travel the world, especially to do a road trip across the USA. Second, to finish and publish my first novel. I love MMORPG''s, as well as many other things, which I don''t have space to fit in here!

    • Regarding Legendary Items in New Expansion
    • I recall seeing a video on Youtube a couple of months ago, and it was basically one of the dev's giving a press conference on what Moria will bring to the game.

After I watched it, I felt even more excited about MoM than before.  Turbine's approach to this game has been superb, and is about to take it to new heights (or should that be depths - seeing as it is Moria?).

Now he made a couple of remarks about legacy type weapons that really interested me, and I wondered if anyone here knows anything about this, and can shed some more light on it for me.

All he mentioned was something about these powerful items that would actually level.  They would gain experience as well as your character.  I think it is an awesome idea, and if it has not been introduced in any other game, I bet it won't be long before others begin to copy it.

I wondered if you will be able to name your own weapon, and will it be bound?  From what he said, it sounded like the weapon will not be subject to the 'binding' rules, which means that I a weapon you make great can go on forever in the game.  So there truly will become some legendary items in a couple of years!

      Can anyone verify this?

Also, has there been any indication of what graphic style these legendary items will come under?  What I mean by this, is will they still be the rather subdued style which the game has now, or will they be more 'particle effects' and flashy, such as games like WoW?  I would like to see a balance.  Not something so brash as to look alien to the game, but eye-catching enough for a person to know that someone has a legendary item.  I know a lot of people do not want anything flashy for LotrO, as they fear it will start a chain reaction that will ruin the look of the game.  But I think this should be the exception.  Bilbo's mithril shirt was not a bland piece of armour now, was it?  And Sting glowed when orcs were around.  So it would still fit in with the lore.

Anyway, anyone who has any thoughts on this, I would be appreciative to read them.

maybe they should follow the Darkfall model more closely and spend more time developing & finishing their game and less time hyping and taking pre-orders for an unfinished game?

Bit funny seeing some ppl bash Darkfall and then supporting War or AoC, which are both badly unfinished... Pot calling kettle back?

If Soundbyte (pretty ironic name) is not being sarcastic with this post, then it has to be one of the most ill-informed, delusional, and downright idiotic posts that I have ever read on any forum, anywhere!

I'm really pissed off with Darkfall.

Like a lot people here, I see the proposed features of the game, and thought that it sounded like the Holy Grail of MMO gaming.   Then I began to read the forums, and learnt a bit about the title, and realised it was all a lie.

      When you look at the Darkfall features page, you see it as a question and answer session.  It is as though they have gathered together all the stuff we MMO gamers have ever wanted in a game, and then claim that they have it in Darkfall.  So the section reads along the lines of;

Will Darkfall have this?  Oh yes.

Will Darkfall have that?  Oh yes.

Basically, anything that you ever wanted to see in a game, Darkfall apparently has it.

However, there are no specifics.  When you delve further, everything is cloaked in mystery.  I wonder why?  This game has supposedly been in production for 7 years, and is meant to be realised this year?  Hmmm, how many times has beta meant to have started now?  And they are claiming that the actual game, will be ready for general release sometime this year?  Aye, right!

What annoys me nearly as much, is the fanatism of the people who just want to believe the hype.  In my eyes, they honestly have all the markings of a cult.

The Cult of Darkfall.  We must believe anything our Greek master tells us.  We need no proof.  A couple of screenshots, or videos that have been around for awhile is enough for us.  We shall defend our Master and Darkfall to the death.  If anyone dares ask a legitimate question on our forum, we shall all congregate and spout hate, and spit on the worthless infidel, for not instantly believing in our Greek Master and his claims.  We shall infiltrate all other forum sites, and spread rumours of our hallowed Game's existence, so that we may get new people to join our cult.

The Cult of Darkfall shall live on.  Already we are making plans about what we shall do next year, when we are still awaiting the coming of our hallowed Game.  And the year after that.

And should our hallowed Game finally emerge...  We shall rejoice, even though it has hardly any of the features that were promised us.  Even if it is a bugged, dated, piece of crap, we shall laugh because at least it is real crap!

Aye - and should I be proved wrong, and the game does finally come out, I think the Cult of Darkfall will be correct, and that it will be real....crap!

      Sorry which threads are those?

If you mean ones that have KOTOR in the title and that this discussion may have occurred during them, then I am sorry that I did not wade through 6 pages of a topic header I was not interested in, just to find that this had been raised somewhere in that thread.

If there had been a thread with the same title before, then I must have missed the thousands of them of which you are refering.

If there has been one, several pages back, then I am sorry that I did not notice it.  In future, if I want to raise a topic, I shall send you a memo first, telling you what it is about, etc, and ask for your permission to post.  Would that be more agreeable to you?

Or perhaps you can learn the concept of a forum.  Try looking the word up in the dictionary.  A place for people to discuss issues.

So if you don't want anything to do with the discussion, will you please remove your unwanted. ill informed, and generally malodorous presence.  Thank you.

    • how do i get the lotro launcher to work
    • I am not sure, and possibly the last person to ask, as I am far from being knowledgable in this field.

However, I had problems myself.  Then I realised that I was trying to launch the game through Turbine, instead of Codemasters, who I should have been, seeing as I was playing from EU.  So if you are in EU, maybe has something to do with that?

    • The Ultimate Flaw With all Things to do with The Terminator Movies!
    • Before I start my little rant, let me explain that I am not the kind of person that normally picks holes in movies, and annoyingly broadcasts the impossiblilty of situations to fellow viewers.

I can quite happily suspend my knowledge of what is possible, and enjoy a movie.  Be it sci-fi, fantasy, horror, you name it.  However, although I can suspend my disbelief, the rest of the movie has to make sense within the realms of its own made-up world.   Otherwise it is just lazy writing.

Now, on to the point at hand.  I loved The Terminator when it first came out.  But then this problem I have with the franchise began to emerge with the sequals.  Now there is the Chronicles of Sarah Connor, and I have not been able to watch even one episode.  Why?

Simple really.  If we play along with the concept of time travel, I am fine with that.

So imagine the enemies sitting there in the future, and they send Arnie back in time to kill Sarah Connor.

      He fails.

So they send another terminator back, only this time it is more advanced.  Hmmm, still possible.  Although, why didn't they just send Arnie back again, until he succeeded?  But, let us for the sake of argument say that they wanted to wait until they had this super-duper new terminator (the one from T2).

      That one was unsuccessful.

So why did the people in the future wait so long before they tried again?

Why didn't they just keep sending terminators back until they were successful?

If this was explained to me in a satisfactory way, then maybe I would look upon the sequals afresh, and even give the tv show a chance.

The only thing that would make sense would be if something is happening in the future that means that they cannot keep sending terminators back in time, but this has not been explained.  At least not to my knowledge.
