I understand the OP's concerns .. and agree with them, accept ... many areas are really small .... if you are questing there, it only takes 2 other players and you will be fighting eachother over mobs to kill.
Damn ... in ancient SWG, you would find hundreds of people in the most popular cities, on huge open planets. If ya needed mobs or kills for a mission, they were spawned for you, or you could find the mobs over half the planet. Ok, the graphisc sucked .... but still ...
If i had the choice, i would choose bigger areas/ more peeps over graphics anytime.

Also how would I go about overclocking my cpu to lets say 3.0 to be safe? Is there a link someone can post, as well as answer my last question about my video card :x
This guide is very complete on oc-ing your q6600 ... but honestly, cpu will not be your problem.

I have a Windows XP system with a Quad-core 2.4,4gigs of ram and a 8800GT. When usually get 50-130fps and in cities the fps never dip below 30. My connection is always around 100 so I doubt it's lag. Any idea on if I should upgrade the cpu? When I start out in new areas and start to run/walk I get 1-2sec studders like it's loading the content or something. Other then that the game runs perfect on High setting, I've tried to change the setting to med or even low but I still get the same little studders.
Your using a q6600 2.4 cpu, these are the most highly overclockable quad cores on the market. Its definitly not your cpu, but you should know that you can push that cpu well over 3ghz with just air cooling. Greater than 3.6ghz would require watercooling. You should definitly look into overclocking.
True ... i have one myself .... yesterday i pushed it to 3.6Ghz by just upping the fsb and vcore voltage.
But from what i have seen, the studders are always accompanied by hdd activity ... even with my raptors in raid I have that issue.
Keep your disks defragged, and you could try completely disabling pagefile (windows will still use it though) ... with 4Gb ram you should be fine.
I would choose immersion over graphics anytime ... isn't that what RPG is about ?
For example early SWG ... huge open planets .... sucky graphics .... but great immersion (except for the damn buildings popping up ontop of you).
I tried open beta for conan .... i liked it, except there was NO immersion. Mainly caused by the 5 to 10 minutes loading screens 3 times an hour ( one of the lucky ones with a decent computer, but crappy performance).
I don't know about others, but my lag is definately caused by swapping.
My hdd's (2 raptors in raid0) go mental all the time .... Conan is using an astonishing 1.4GB ( of my 2) internal memory ...
Maploading takes ages .... after loading map it takes another 5 minutes before i can move :)
What aspect of MMORPG's are you more into?
