    • The Zealot: Best healer I've ever played.
    • I'd go as far as to say that in my total MMO experience, the Zealot is actually the first healer I've ever played, period... My main characters in WoW were always Druids, but I liked the versatility of healing as more of a way to support myself while I went down the Feral path and tore things apart... But above all, I enjoyed being the random buffer, with the series of DoT heals and the fabulous Mark of the Wild.

My Zealot's somewhere in the range of rank 8, renown 6 or so, and I have to say that I'm enjoying it... I wish I had a bit more buff power, or at least the option to cast my Marks without being grouped (this is even a problem with Warbands, in that you can still only cast on your own party within the WB), but for the most part it's sexy. Running the Chapter 3 PQ Macabre Fervor half a dozen times just to get my influence bar out of the way, I consistently remained in the top two every time just making sure that if *anyone* in the three party Warband dropped any less than 100% I'd keep 'em alive, and if folks were good and my AP was in the clear, I'd pull a few mobs for decent damage and let the team finish the job.

Of course, I still need to get the hang of PvP now. Usually, either I help some of the other healers turn the team into an invincible force, or I run around like a chicken spamming self heals like mad until someone realizes I'm in trouble. It's annoying, but it's also the beauty I'm realizing about WAR healers that is the same thing I enjoyed about being a Druid in WoW: You're practically a ranged Tank if the situation calls for it. You're not meant to be DPS, but you can be a good distraction if you need to be.

I'm considering trying the Shaman next, since I think I might be getting more into the "combat healer" mentality that seems to be required for the role. However, I'm more intrigued by the Disciple of Khaine, which at this point I find myself somewhat disappointed with. Maybe they're a late bloomer class, since in my first few minutes of play I find both their heals and damage somewhat unsatisfying, and figure in the heat of a large scale RvR I'll run out of Soul Essence fast. Still, I'll take it a little farther, it is kinda fun playing a melee healer, it'll probably get better once I start upgrading both swords. :D

    • Core Processor Question (noob question)
    • I'm hearing the 2.5 requirement is a kinda high estimate... 1.9 seems to be a little more common around here, that seems to be a little closer to the middle ground. Some say it's just barely enough and even with an awesome video card they still slog through with all settings turned down completely, while others say it's just fine. I still need to upgrade, so I'll try to get back later on whether it's good or not.

    • People hitting NEED on items they can not use.
    • So true. In other games that utilize a Need/Greed roll identifier (since it hardly qualifies as a "system"), personally? Unless it's something my character absolutely, positively cannot do without, I'll just click... Pass. Often I'll be the only one in the group that does while everyone hits Need to claim it, only to admit that they just want to sell it on the Auction House, disenchant it, whatever. So most of the time I just don't bother playing for the loot and people wonder why I bother grouping up in the first place. And everyone else is fine with that. These are, of course, teams that are just small enough in size to hopefully not wipe, so one teammate that agrees to click Pass on the Ultra Rare boss drop is more for them.

That's kinda why I like the Public Quest system the way it is now. Everyone has a fair shot at getting decent loot so long as they do their part. It assumes everyone's out for it anyway, so it doesn't ask, it just rolls and hands it out to whoever qualifies (yeah, they have to click the chest, but now we're just splitting hairs) and eventually everyone walks away with something. Y'know, even if it's just another pair of shoes or gloves you're not going to use. :P So why do we still have Black Orcs picking up Dark Elf gear, and Chosen picking up Marauder equipment?

My solution? Another thing that's already in-game. Just break everything down into "Repairable" items that need to be taken to a merchant in order to be used. Everyone can Need, Greed, Pass all they want because there's an equal chance for everyone that it'll be something they can use. Think of it as good ol' Dungeons and Dragons, when the DM distributes loot, sometimes with a player in mind, sometimes offering something for everyone in the group, but nobody knows what it is; they need someone to identify it. It's a kinda lousy solution and that was a poor example, but it's the best I can come up with at this point.
