As you probably have read in our newspost, NCsoft Europe will be on the show floor at the Games Convention in Leipzig.
Why am I telling you this, you ask? Well, the crazy people over here in Brighton that call themselves the Community team are very excited about it, as it is another brilliant opportunity to meet you - our players – in person! So we will prepare a ton of activities for you to participate in – and of course, we will also bring some goodies to give away. ;)
We can't give you all the details now as we are still using our collective brainpower to come up with even more crazy ideas, however what we have currently planned:

I'm starting to think that MMOs are a fad. Too expensive to make, to expensive to buy, too risky, and too problematic when compared to single-player games with optional peer-to-peer.
I'm thinking the future is going to bring us more games like Grand Theft Auto and Metal Gear 4: games that are relatively cheap (when compared to MMOs), with online capability, borrowing the best of current MMO features.
Because when you get right down to it, the "massive multiplayer" aspect of MMOs is something many of us (and many game publishers) are willing to do without. I mean, if PvP, PvE, raiding, grinding, and loots are all MMOs consist of, we can do that all without the "massive" format.
I somewhat disagree, because altho MMOs support massive - they also support single player RPG
PC RPG games are practically dead now -- why? mainly because of MMOs
there used to be dozens of RPG games in the 80s and early 90s
- now theres only a handful, and only 2 successful ones Oblivion and Neverwinter Nights

How accurate is the actual sales figure and is it just the case that the 700,000+ being quoted is what had shipped ? I don't remember Funcom actually quoting their own sales and subscription figurea.
its 700k registered accounts
www.funcom.com/wsp/funcom/frontend.cgi
With more than 700.000 accounts created so far we have a fantastic platform to build from
AOC may never reach 1 million subs
but , long term, it will probably do at least as well as LOTRO - if not better
sub counts don't matter too much to people playing the game tho
-- what matters is whether you are having fun
in the past, I commented that NPD does not include digital sales
but that no longer matters because AOC offers digital now too
