Welp it's not the Warhammer Online beta.
Looks like it's C&C Red Alert 3
Maybe it's because of the server, or the living legacy promotion, but I'm on Lucan D'lere, Level 30 Inquisitor and I've already done tons of group content. I usually just travel to the dungeon/ area I want to do and usually pick up a group pretty fast. I've learned to ignore the LFG and Chats, and just try and group with people around. Maybe I'm lucky but it works perfect for me.
Strange, yeah as for the forum account, be prepared to wait awhile, I've had my username and pass registered since early morning yesterday and still no luck on getting in the forums. I've also got a support ticket from two days ago still unanswered.
Actually just checked, it was server maintenance for us (EU). But they seem to be up for me now.

Hello atypical troll. Every company has shitty business practices, bar none. I wasn't defending SOE at all, I explained a solution to fix his problem, pointed out facts ( The process of setting up an account is very simple if you read the instructions) and explained what was needed. If you can point out one single baseless point I made I will gladly concede my point, until then, troll on troll.
Hey slick, if you think every company has shitty business practices you are dealing with the wrong ones. SOE acts like my electric or cable company. Sure, they can take a big dump on my head, and there isn't much I can do, but no other company is allowed to treat me like crap. Why would you take that? Are you some sort of simpleton?
I've played 3 different retail SOE games and have resubscribed to one about a dozen or so times, I've never personally been affected by a single bad thing. I've personally never had a problem with customer service or anything of that matter. If I was burned, I'd probably stay away. Don't call me a simpleton for playing a game that has never given me any problems. I haven't taken any crap at all, maybe I'm just lucky. Either way you just come off like an asshole.

Well deserved. SOE has a history built on false pretenses, cronyism, and outright theft. A perfectly good game like PotBS is tainted beyond repair by minimal SOE involvement.
I don't like my cell phone company, this doesn't mean I jump down the throats of everyone who talks about it. Discussion is okay, stuff like that is just childish ya know.
You are actually defending this?! This gentleman purchased a product that advertised a 30 day FREE trial. Key word 'FREE'. And yet they solicited his credit card to activate his account. Now it is on him to cancel to ensure his cc isn't hit with recurring charges.
The product also advertised that to activate your 30 days free time it requires a credit card and game time card. This method is not invented by SOE and is pretty standard across the board. I accept it because that is what most of the companies do.You're solution to this is he go out and spend more money on SOE products?! The guy bought a game and he wants to play it. SOE's self serving business practices are denying him access to said product. 'You can't play your game unless you give us our credit card'. That should be in big yellow letters on the front of the PotBS box, not 'Free to play 1st 30 days with purchase of game'.
This is all something he should have been aware of when he left the store. If your making any purchase do you even bother to read the box? If you see a new radio in the box do you just grab it without bothering to read anything on it? If you do that bring it home and realise it only operates by being powered by a coal burning furnace and it says this on the box it's not the companies fault you didn't bother to read it. This isn't some hidden sneaky practice that you don't know about until you've purchased it. It's there, in pretty plain sight. It's.right.on.the.box.
Just because it's not written specifically tailored to your tastes does not make it anyone's fault and I while SOE is far from innocent this is far from their fault.
If you take a look at the grammar in this post, it is pretty clear that either 1) english is a second language to this guy or 2) he is using a translator bot. SOE is notorious in having abyssmal customer service when dealing with non-english speaking customers.
If I was having any trouble, or even remotely dealing with my money with a service that was not my native language, I'd much rather get the help from someone who understands or use another method. I know their customer service is generally pretty shit. I don't know what their services are like for non-english speaking customers or if they even have a non-english subscription process. Personally if I didn't understand something I'd get help not just muddle through it, I'd be asking for trouble and the mix up would be my own fault. I'm not defending their customer service. and if they sell this product and english only service in non-english places then I agree that's pretty shit. In that case it really sucks, but caveat emptor.
Obviously it isn't clear enough else this guy wouldn't be in the situation it is in. Station Pass is incredibly difficult to navigate, it's like surfing in the dark ages.
I really don't find it that difficult. I'm not being haughty or anything here either. It's a simple process to just go through, and trust me I've been through it alot. I'm a bit of an mmo vagabond I resubscribe to various ones never really paying for more than a month or two. Maybe like you stated above he's in this situation because of his lack of english knowledge.
SOE is a profit driven corporation. Their soul concern is their bottom line. I don't have a problem with that, it's the point of being in business, but don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining. Don't paint yourself as being this big friendly custome concerned purple dinosaur when you are actually operating under Caveat emptor. Time and time again I have read all these posts from sony reps and sympathizers decrying all the negativity that gets stirred up when their name is brought up. This guy made a purchase, expecting to get something, and instead got nothing, and his only recourse was the SOE customer service department, which obviously did f-all for him or else he wouldn't be here flipping out about it. That is where this negativity comes from. We didn't get bored one day, put a bunch of names on the wall and throw darts to pick who we were going to hate on, we all got burned in one way or another by this self serving monstrosity.
If I buy a bicycle and expect it to fly, is this the companies fault? He never said anything at all about talking to customer service, or seeking their help, the way the post was worded was that he tried it, and ran here to make a post. I'm not defending anything about soe's business practices, I'm not defending their stances. The only thing I'm defending are the points I feel people got wrong. Your angry I labelled you a troll for a quick two line post, well if you take a look I've been labelled a fanboy etc. etc. When I've done nothing to deserve that title. I simply explained about the sign-up process and that it does get grating to have every single post have someone jump in on SOE hate. Again discussion is fine, there's a million or so threads about it, but to see it every single time in every single topic gets to be a little grating. You do nothing but hurt your cause like this, do you know how it looks to the rest of the world, the constant jumping into every topic the random insults. Yeah you got burned, yeah it really sucks and you have the right to talk about it, but the way most of the community goes about it is to act like wronged children and attack everything and everyone of opposite opinion. Do you think that's right?
And it isn't just the lying and thievery that gets to us, it's the mind boggling business decisions they have made. Talk to ex gamers of EQ, SWG, MxO, PotBS, Vangaurd, and you will hear tales that will spin your head around.
Ultimately, my grievence is with the detrimental effect this controling entity is having on the mmo genre, a genre which I believe not only offers entertainment, but has artistic value as well, and potential in the areas of communication, networking, and even stress coping and substance abuse rehabilitation.
No one will hear your communities cause if you act like this, instead of coming off as a group of people who got burned one too many times and make a difference you instead come off as a great large group of trolls attacking everything and everyone with a differing opinion. Attack them where it's deserved and in places that makes sense. Random spewed hatred just causes back and forth fighting, even if it's rightfully deserved. Someone asked for help and I did my best, I defended the points that made sense to me, and they still do.
How do you feel about advertising inside games?
