Damn, i was in the game at character screen - thought i had started, then got disconnected. Lot of new fresh red colour and little difference in class icons. Cant wait to start playing! PvP for me ; )
Barbarians are as you mentioned not using more then cloth & light armor so ofc that gives less survivability then heavy armor wearing classes. I had a lvl 21 Barbarien wich i found quite fun indeed, stealth gives quite good survivability and if you spec 2h wise you get access to a wide array of knockback and stun skills - duelwield spec gives you more damage mitigation skills. Asfar as i could see at the current talents listed for barbarien class. But again, Barb´s are a dps class ( 2nd best melee dps right after assassin ) so ofc to balance it out you wont have the defenses and life capability as a guardien in plate. Try it out and hf!
Its definately not GW style ( Thank God! ) But more the EQ2 style as mentioned already. Starting Area is quite fine as it is really 1-20 with focus on you learning the game, controls not to mention the important and exciting storyline. Even at the starting area i found atleast one quite huge zone ( Quest with remains of demon picts - or something like that ) Huge valley area that nearly choked my pc to process at first. And it only gets better after lvl 20 ( Zone size wise ). Hope that adds to you unlucky few´s perspective of the game who hasnt had the chance to discover Hyboria on there own. Hope to see you in game the 17th. :)
