  • On a positive note... you can now disguise your guardian in light armor and a polearm and look just like a TOS without any penalties.

    I got to the point about a week ago where I just could not log in. No reason too. Nothing to motivate me to want to play. Tired of grinding. Tired of crappy worthless loot. Tired of bugs. Tired of having to cross 5-6 zones to get to a leveling area. Tired of 12 year old hop & gank pvp.

    Thats my biggest complaint... I got bored really fast with AOC. Most other mmorpgs at least gave me a reason to play beyond character leveling. Loved pet collecting in early swg and wow rare pet hunting. Loved farming and hard solo stuff in my old eq necro. Liked the crafting in lotro. liked the char diversity in vanguard and it was fun playing around with diff classes. Eve had great politics and pvp.

    With aoc all the melee classes feel the same with the combo system. Casters are weak. There does not seem to be distinct enough differences between the classes and play styles. It just gets plain boring really fast.

    I really think at this point the game is intended for the 12-16 crowd. Boobs and gore seeming to be the main attaction here. I see all the fanboi's in here defending the game and its kind of like a 6 year old defending barney. But you know if I was that young and got to play an adult game with boobs and gore I would think it was pretty good too.

  • Its about money.  Always has been and always will be.  mmorpg.com is a cheerleader site for the mmorpg industry. Company's pay money to advertise here. Moderators mod and direct forum content.

    Funcom designed and advertised a product to get you to buy it. Does it really matter how they went about it? They succeded on a massive scale. Hundreds of thousands of individuals purchased the game. Millions of dollars.

    Was it a succesfull launch? You bet it is. Funcom used deceptive advertising, misdirection and out right lies to make it happen. And guess what... They got away with it. I really think this will become the new mmorpg launch norm.  Gamers = Suckers. 

    Its all about the money... Suckers

    Hmmm... Wonder if im now going to get my third mmorpg trolling warning? I mean award...

    No... Just really tired of fanbois twisting the verbage in funcom advertising. No twisting what they posted on the 16th.
    Just hard to believe they kept the page up after announcing the string of lies about limited space being available from the beginning.

    I am not a fanboi and I am not twisting their words at all. I am about to post multiple links where the Early Access says it was limited. No I do not work for Funcom, Eidios or any other gaming company. I am a college professor with an IQ high enough to understand what Funcom meant. Also, if this isn't good enough for you Reanim, then thats fine. I will not be responding because the words in these articles and press releases speak for themselves.

    The following article appeared on Funcom's website (and Age of Conan website) on or around April 16th 2008. Now I will quote from that article:
    "Funcom now also confirms an early access program which will give customers a chance of a head-start in Age of Conan. Funcom reveals that American, European and Oceanic players may enter Age of Conan as early as the 17th of May. Mere weeks away, early adopters can now live, fight and explore in Hyboria, as well as getting an essential head-start before the hordes invade."

    " Registration for customers with pre-order keys has now opened on http://register.ageofconan.com. Registering with a valid pre-order key (such as the Rhino or Mammoth key) is the unique way to be eligible to purchase Early Access for 5€/5$. This fee includes 10 days of game-time as well as the digital download of the client. Hurry though, because the Early Access is only available while supply lasts!"

    I could link more and more articles but that should get the point across. To say there was no communication or knowledge of a limited access is a fallacy.

    You just illustrated my point... Thank you. On the 16th they stated everyone would get access. People ordered and they changed the rules. You see nothing wrong with this? Did they send out emails to all the preorders. Did they notify the retailers? No they waited till they had lots and lots of sales then hit the buyers with this.

    you say you are not a fanboi yet you defend very questionable company behavior.

    My posts are not the same. One was about EA. One about post moderation. And this one is about funcom lies.
