I disagree with there being a lack of a market for sci-fi. The market may not be quite as large as fantasy but it's there.
And the only way I can see the Zerg working would be as an NPC race or a sort of RTS control. I've seen other games like that, first or third person view RPG for one race and then RTS birds eye view for another race. That might be a little too unique for most people to grasp though, and it would be difficult to balance.
I would personally prefer a WH40K MMO. I don't know much about SC lore, so I won't say if one is better than the other. WH lore is quite extensive and gritty. I like how even the Space Marines aren't "good", every race is essentially evil, just some try to justify it more than others.
I can't really imagine how they could make an MMO out of that setting though. MMO's are about the individual whereas the WH40K universe focuses on groups.. People wouldn't be able to be a Space Marine, an Ork, and especially not a Tyranid.
Any speculation as to how they could make it work?

I am the only person who is sick of hearing the hype from darkfall fanbois (AkA: darkfellows). Can't you darkfellows keep your darkfall post on the dark fellow forum?
C'mon, when will you people just give it up and believe? Get over yourself and your lack of faith.
Can't you see that Darkfall is going to kick WoW in the shins and then decapitate it like the little bitch that it is?
I mean, in Darkfall, they spell "Orc" with a "k" ("Ork"). That's so friggin' genius and original I can hardly contain myself. How can they possibly fail with creativity like that? What more do you want? Proof?
Actually Games Workshop has been spelling Ork with a "k" for many years now.
Oh, and the first part of your post makes Darkfall look like a cult.
There is no shop using real cash.
Would you rather see a game release pushed back a year or have the game release witha few bugs that will be fixed?
