    • Poll: What type of gameplay are you most excited about in WAR?
    • I am excited about RvR, and only Everquest and DAoC have held my attention longer than six months. If Mythic creates a RvR system like they did for DAoC, I think it will be a game that I can play for five years like I did with DAoC.

I do like to PvE with friends and my guild mates, but the RvR is hands down  the most fun I have had in any game so far.  Mythic is one of the few  gamming companies that have made a mmorpg with PvP or RvR that is meaningful and fun. People always talk about  revolutionary game mechanics in games being made these days; IMO Mythic did that with their last game they made. The only company that had PvP was UO, and you can compare the difference between the two.  I really hope with the money from EA; they can pull off a great game. I am just worried they will take the approach that so many of the games these days take ie. LoTR and AoC. I do like not the heavy quest and no grouping that goes on in those games. Thats just my personal feelings about it.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Now I Am A Believer!
    • Hey there,

I never played Vanguard before this last week. but I heard a lot about it though. I actually gave the game a try. I really was not expecting very much I must say after reading a years worth of negative posts and feed back about. But, I really found the game a lot of fun, and I have no issues at all with running it.  It reminds me totally of EQ1 not EQ2.  I hear a lot of posts of folks wishing there was a game like EQ1, and it is Vanguard.

Anyway, I really hope they re launch this game and try to get more players into it. I think it can be a hell of a nich retro game for sure. It is very thing a real MMO should be; It just needs a lot more players playing it.

They are generally one of the most community friendly companies I have ever delt with. They get the community involved as they don't just think it is their game to do as they see fit, they value the communities input.

This is even post EA. EA currently just seems to be a wallet right now, and letting them do as they have done in the past.

First off, I support Mythic and WAR, and I agree that with DaoC I honestly felt that they did care for their players. But, the changes they made to DAoC over the last year was without the popular consent of their players. Some examples are the complete changes to the UI and changes to the classes.  These "changes" got a lot of people wondering what the heck they would do in WAR.  Mythic loves to swing the nerf bat on a regular basis. They made a ton of broken and incomplete patches to the game. The UI patch took at least three patches before they fixed what they screwed up.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • From UO to AoC: The Devolution of the MMORPG
    • This is a great thread. I wished I had found it earlier. Very interesting to read all of this.

To all the people who say that their first MMO is there favorite, I agree with you to some extent. However, My first MMO was UO, but EQ is what really got me hooked. Yes, it was called EverCrack for a good reason, but UO was a blast has there was always something to do in that game. To all the peole that WoW is their first MMO, yall really missed out on some awesome games!

Everything changes though. Just look society changed since 1997. Rock and Roll used to be huge for young people. How many young people listen to that nowdays. It is more or less dead now. Instead, I hear the Boom Boom of cars going down the road with words I cant even understand. Maybe not the best example, but yea everything changes has in with MMOs. Maybe one day someone will make a UO style game with 3d graphics, and we will be happy. I would just be happy with a game that I can really get into and play for the next five years. Has I did with EQ and DAoC.
