You all have brought out wonderful ideas. I was lucky enough to get a few friends to try Ryzom after I sent them a short video of the game. What captured them was the "live-in" feel Ryzom had and one thing few games had which was interactive lifeforms. My best friend loved the scene I shot of the Ragus attacking something in the background.
Advertising for us is simple, attach a short Vid to an email and pass it on to friends to pass it on to their friends etc... hopefully Ryzom backs a comeback and if it does this will be the method I use from now on.

OK no flames and no demands, just some simple observations from a vet that left the game shortly after the NGE. (And yes I do miss our pre-cu game)
After reactivating my ancient level 90 Bothan medic on the Ahazi server, I was happy to find some old guildmates still playing the game. Feeling like a complete newbie to what is SWG now, I was thankful for some insights in what to do.
Seems the Collections thing is all the rage right and after trying a few of the easier pre quests for some of the Heroic collection quest, I found them both enjoyable and entertaining. There also seems to be no end of collection quest to do.
I was also given some kill collection quest which involve killing outrageous amounts of different widlife. The Rancor one has a grand total of 675 kills of various types of Rancors. While finding and killing the lower level ones is easy it does get boring rather fast. The reward? A new title and some XP which at lvl 90 is useless.
Although alot of the other harder quests do offer some decent rewards, it seems SOE is determined to generate some type of community atmosphere by designing these quests with large and diverse teams to earn these better rewards.
While the server population (Ahazi) is no where near what I remember it to be, there are actually people running around most of the planets and you do not have to wait long to see them. So i would guess the population is growing somewhat since I encountered several real newbies in my travels.
Ok on the downside. As I mentioned the quest require teams and unless your lucky to have a ton of friends playing all the time. Simple teams of 3 or 4 just do not get the job done even if all of you are lvl 90's. Check the station forums they actually have reccommended group arrangements of usually 8 people.
One thing I had enjoyed a lot, before I left, was the Mustafar expansion. It had a very good mix of quests, with some that could be done solo and those requiring groups.
These present quests offer no such option with the exception of the pre quest which offer absolutly nothing.
To sum it all up. I found the present SWG game filled with new things to see and do. Just extremely difficult to find enough people to do them. But, its enough right now for me to stay around a few months and see what happens.
When no one is around. I've been content to play with my architect alt and try out all the new color changes for my old furniture items. Finally, something we archies have been asking for,for years got added.
Space is also still great and some new ships to work towards keeps the interest going also.
As a guildmate of mine commented, SOE has found the combination to keep present day players paying and paying each month with no letup in sight.
I know there is probably alot more I left out or should comment on but, I just wanted to add my two cents here. I still would rather see a release of a debugged pre-cu game out but, since thats a dream only, SOE has to do something about making the game playable for the limited population they now have. At present the new quests are far to hard either solo or for smallish groups and require you to hope and pray for teammates to really complete them. Save the hope and dreams of a larger community later and work with what you have now and maybe the lower frustration level of present players will attract even more people back or into the game.
Wow some awesome stuff. Makes me want to
I miss the game soo much.
If we could get people to watch these videos and see for themselves the beauty we know as Atys, these money problems would not exist and the servers would be hard pressed to keep up with the new accounts.
Lets hope some news comes out soon so we can either hope or use these to remember a great MMO.

If I understand the process correctly, the VCO Devs make all the changes to VCO, then Yusho's production firm has to have them rewrite it to adapt to the lack of the item mall. Like with pets, on BBO there are now just 2 quests to get pets either the pheasant or any of the canines (wolves, foxes, etc). From what the players understand this is a long process so VCO enjoys the new stuff way before we do.![]()
Yes our community was a source of pride to us all. Personally, my problem with Silan was that it was an entirely mission driven area. Which gave new players the impression that the entire game was like that, which we all know it wasn't. The main thing i enjoyed about ryzom was it never held your hand and demanded you do this or that. What the game did do successfully was create the need the player interaction which formed friendships.
Lets all keep hoping if Ryzom does return thats its still the same with only those things that needed fixing fixed.
