    • Hardcases's advice is good, join a squad if you want to experience the game to it's fullest.  BKB is a good squad for newbies to join as they are commited to training new players and will give you some good experience.

    • It's a great game.  The learning curve is steep so joining a squad is probably the first move you should make.  This is easily accomplished through the squad tab where recruiters place adverts you can click to join.  The walking thing is probably from about 5 years ago.  Now you spawn into mobile spawn points which are close to the battle but you still need to exercise patience and caution when approaching.  If you go charging headlong towards the action you'll hear a shot and be dead pretty quick.

Give the free trial a go, that'll give you enough time to decide if it's for you or not.  I'd also pick up a cheap joystick if you want to experience everything this game has to offer as driving / flying is pretty hard (impossible) without one.
