now divide those into the cloth, light, med, and heavy and you have 4.68 armor sets per level. which is probably about right.
I know the number 1500 was a rough figure so maybe it also takes into account numbers of unique items that aren't actually part of a whole set. Just guessing btw... but, it would definitely be nice to have more than 5 armor sets per level.
I don't know which game you are playing, but it is not the same one as me. There are not 5 armour sets per armour type per level. No way, not even close.

1500 armor pieces
leg, chest, arm, wrist, waist, boots, gloves, helm, neck
1500/ 9 = 166 sets
cloth, light, medium, heavy, full plate
166/ 5 = 33 different set in each class
I play an asassin and I can say there are more then 33 different clothing sets.
Your argument would be fine if they had said there would be "1500 armor pieces". Unfortunately they said there would be "1500 armor sets" (and emphasised that it was sets, and not pieces), so your argument kinda falls on its ass.
I am not going to claim that they lied - maybe there are 1500 armor sets in the game. I don't know - I haven't seen them. But the OP is spot on - they used the Gamespot beta to make people think this is what they would see on release, and it very blatantly wasn't. That is rather underhand, misleading, some might say dishonest, behaviour.
Then again, they also said that at release we would have DX10 and massive sieges with 100s of players onscreen at once, and that turned out to be a lie too.

I hope it is not another Dark and light.
It isn't. Trust me.
DDO has great dungeons (and not much else).
Why do you think humans are boring? Have you ever met an interesting elf, dwarf or hobbit in real life? Almost all the interesting folks I know in real life are human!
