    • Warhammer Review, from the perspective of a long time beta tester (very long read)
    • Great review. Even though I haven't been in beta from what I know about the game i agree completely. As i believe you said in the review, I dont think the goal of  Warhammer was ever to be a very innovative game, and before the fanbois flame me to death, believe me, I am looking forward to this game as much as I have any other, and have preordered it. Warhammer is taking elements of past games like WoW and Daoc and making a new game out of them. Does this make War a bad game? Absolutely not, but it doesn't make it a fresh game. We won't be seeing any revolutionary features, at least not at launch. Obviously aspects of mmos like keeps in daoc, or scenarios (battlegrounds) in wow have been very succesful, and I can only hope the good from former games was taken and improved in warhammer online.

I think what the OP (and a very large market of other gamers) is looking for is a sandbox mmo. Many players want to be able to explore a world without boundaries, to influence the world within the game they play. In many ways mmos are becoming more and more like singleplayer rpgs. You are essentially instructed what to do via quests until you reach max level, at which point you can A. Open world RvR B. Fight for a keep. C. Do scenarios, or D. Raid, and this is what we have seen from MMOs since the release of WoW. Obviously this method isn't really bad. WoW was and still is extremely succesful, but many players are looking for something fresh. We have done everything that will be available to us in warhammer in other games, while these things are still fun, many gamers want more. In my humble opinion the depth of MMORPGs has been moving backwards since world of warcraft. Star wars galaxies was in my opinion the greatest mmo ever made, and players are looking for that kind of sandbox experience again.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • Several Questions about War! Please help.
    • Hey guys. I am currently playing AoC, but things just arent looking too good for the future of the game, so I am taking a look at War, and I have a few questions that i haven't been able to find answers to.

      1. I am a hardcore crafter. I love crafting and making money in mmos. What will crafting in War be like? Will the gear actually compare if not better looted gear? Will there be ways to obtain higher end recipes for instance through raid drops, pvp, or just random world drops? What crafting professions will there be? For instance armorsmith, weaponsmith, etc. How does one advance their crafting profession?

      2. Housing. Will there be housing, guild halls, or anything like that in War?

      3. Server types. Will all servers have the RvR pvp? If so how will PvP servers be different from PvE servers if they even make seperate server types. What other server types will there be?

      Thanks.

      WAR (Warhammer Online)
    • How do you get into the gaming devleopment business?
    • Hey guys. I'm 16 and I've been thinking about what i want to do for a living. I will be going into business of some form particullarly online business or gaming. I think i have a lot of good ideas for creating games, and having played mmorpgs since i was 11, i know what will float with players and what won't. I'l just get to the point so not to bore you. If i do go into game development I would like to create my own development company at some point, however i will most likely need to have worked on several projects as a developer before that. So my question is what kind of degree and what kind of school should i be looking for to get into the game development business. I am not interested in programming, rendering, etc. I am interested in conceptualizing and overseeing the creaiton of a game. I dont know if programming is recquired for all developers or what? If anyone can answer these questions please post. My dad is an enterpreneur so i dont really need advice/help in the business area.
