More items and armor, diferent models for PVE and PVP, aerial combat, vehicle combat, destructable buildings, more skills, slightly tweaked graphics....

All in all I think WotlK will be a quite fun litle content adition to already content bursting game.  No reason to worry, if you don't like WoW, not realy much hope into liking it more after the expansion hits and if you just burned out, well, don't worry, you'll be back.

More kill 20 Donkeys for their left testicle quests - check
There has never been a quest to kill donkeys in WoW?

      More gear grind - check
Welcome to the world of MMO's

      More class imbalance - check
Matter of opinion .. pick a class more suited .. and dont assume your the best, you will get beat some times .. thats not class imbalance. The only way to make WoW and all mmos balanced is to only have 1 class and give then all the same gear  .. seems a little boring to me.

More re-balance of classes for PvP to the detriment of PvE - check
Matter of opinion .. Learn to Itemise and spec better.

More of the same - check
      Yes.. wohoo

I like WoW, played it for 3 years, Blizzard did well and I will probably buy their next MMO. Hopefully they'll learn buy the few mistakes they made in this MMO to improve on the next. Will I be buying WotLK, unlikely...
Yes you will .. you know you will

So its not like blizzard are going "oh look what WAR is doing" they had these ideas before WAR was even on thought.

Heres a good 30min video at last years Blizzcon '07 where blizzard devs talk about their PvP mindset, as well as there mistakes (how many devs do that?) and their future plans for Wotlk.

I suggest you watch these before you dimiss Blizzard PvP.

When it comes down to it, WoW simply wasn't designed to handle Open World PvP.  I found it hilarious how  World PvP was a major bulletin point in their presentation (and this was done in 2007), and yet World PvP is STILL to this day a complete and utter failure in WoW.  Either they're just not capable of handling mass people in the world in one area (because the WoW system wasn't designed from the ground up to handle it) or they just simply have no clue how to design  compelling open world pvp gameplay.

This is where WAR has the leg up on WoW as far as open world pvp is concerned.  They KNOW how to do this stuff (as proven in daoc) and they have the system in place to handle it.  WoW may be just catching up with the siege warfare stuff, but I doubt if it will be nearly as compelling and sophisticated as WAR's version.  If WoW's idea of open world Towers are any indication (a joke), I don't see their siege warfare mechanism matching WAR's.  Blizzard may have been excellent with the PvE and overall polish, but they have always consistantly  been weak on the mass pvp stuff.

Well I tell you what we know so far about the new open PvP zone in wotlk (lake wintergrasp).

      • Lake Wintergrasp is WoW's first non-battleground zone solely devoted to PvP action.
      • According to a fixed, rolling schedule, one faction will defend the keep/mine, and the other faction will assault it. Both sides will fight over towers and siege workshops scattered around the zone.
      • If the attacking force succeeds in capturing the keep/mine, that faction will defend it during the next rotation. If that attacking force fails to capture the final objective before the next rotation, that faction will be given more resources (unknown to what those might be for now)" to balance out the fight, and give every faction a chance to hold Lake Wintergrasp.
      • Lake Wintergrasp will feature a variety of new daily quests. These quests include (but are not limited to): quests where you have to ride a mount with an NPC, holding attackers at bay; flying aircraft quests; flying mount quests where you have to lower ropes to evacuate NPCs; in these quests, mounts can hold multiple players!
      • Wintergrasp Marks of Honor will drop in the zone. These marks are necessary for honor gear acquired through the Honor system.
      • When a faction controls Lake Wintergrasp, bosses in Northrend will drop Spirit shards like objects for that faction only. These objects will be necessary for buying certain PvP gear.
      • When you control a tower, you will keep it for a certain amount of time before it becomes available for capture (like the Spirit Towers)
      • Before capturing the keep, the walls must be destroyed by weapons.

huge story which you live in, using the D&D ruleset and you can roleplay on some servers ive been at.

So yeah, i'd like a more explained reason why it's not a rpg >>

I meant the single player campaign not being really a rpg. More like hack'n slash or action game with rpg features. Story + character development is not what makes a game RPG. It's the amount of choices within the adventure quests and a possibility to develop your character "persona" apart from combat mechanics. (Arcanum, Fallout 1/2, BG 1, Planescape Torment... to name a few)

Lets be fair we dont know enough about D3 to deicde wether it is or is not a RPG? we saw the dungeon action but we did not realy see the quest system the world as a whole or how the story unfolds.  Bauldergate 1 is my all time fav RPG but that had dungeons too.  so lets wait and see what D3 will be like.
