You should be in World of Warcraft right now raiding, that is what you people do best.

There may be a million EQ clones out there, but theres nothing like the real thing back in the day, and I dont know if you read my posts earlier but I explained that endless raiding is part of what killed EQ.

so what games do you play? I only ask because I'd like to be "hardcore" to

    • Does any dev now stick to a release date or is it just eye candy?
    • These delays are a result of the disaster that was Vanguard, made the industry jumpy about releases.  Best thing that could have happened (sucks for VG, that came has potential to be the best) because now devs are focusing on releasing complete, shined and polished games.  I'll take a delay over an unfinished product and a bitchy / decimated community anyday.

    • alright, only reason I went with the turkey analogy was because a friend of mine had just finished talking to me about hunting wild turkeys.

my point was, you had to put a tremendous amount of effort into your EQ character, and experience things like corpse retreivals that were so impossible you had to actually socialize and find a necromancer to summon it for you. You appreciate dieing in these games a lot less when the only penalty is a little exp loss and right clicking to get your stuff back.   Because of this, you felt more connected to your EQ character and less apt to let somthing happen to it and you were more connected with a great community because everyone had to help everybody out ( and were more than happy to do so ).

the more you put into it the more you get out of it, and EQ demanded a lot of time and effort

      I also agree.

While the game graphics aren't meant to compare (cartooney), the actual game play is surprisingly more involved then POTBS.

You can actually board a friend's ship and man the guns. Playing Tortuga Holdem against npc's as well as players in the tavern is another feature I enjoy.

And... Get this... You can "explore" the world. What a novel concept that is for the design team at FLS.

Anyway... POC doesn't try to look like a mainstream game. It was designed for kids. But... there's no denying that it's just plain fun. POTBS is nothing but a grind in comparision.

i don't know about everyone else; but THAT is what i look for in games.  fun.  not a second job.  not some basement dwelling megalomaniac barking commands. not boring grind.  i'm looking for FUN.  which is the reason i'm playing a GAME in the first place.

      well said sir

    • The WoW community is what happens when a game gets marketed to the masses and a lot of ignorant children get ahold of it and fill it with their own insecurities.

EQ and the older games were for gentlemen and women who just wanted to sit back and have a good time and know they were in good company
