I don't work in game industry. But my guess is c# is used by some companies to make database tools developers and game masters use, game launchers are also typicaly made in c#.
Game engines are c/c++ (my guess is that they don't even use much of c++ to keep it as optimised as possible with little overhead) with scripting extensions in various scripting languages.
Chance of getting a job in game industry is pretty slim. You will have much better chances with strong knowledge of c# and sql. We all wanted to make games when we started learning programming. Unfortunately s... ain't like that and most of us work with some sort of databases now.
I am not angry. I couldn't care less what you think.
But I do find it funny that people love wow graphics and art so much.
That just proves how relative your statement is.
You find vg ugly, I find ff and especialy wow ugly.
They are targeting people that want full looting.
Play another game. There is progression in other games, too. In most other games it is visible to others, too.
Some people don't have a clue about Vanguard even existing.
Most people don't even know about its release fiasco.
There are people out there that don't know a thing about SOE.
When I showed Vanguard to my friend, a typical WoW player (had no idea there were other mmorpgs, didn't know about VG's release etc.).
His answer after a while of gaming was "Why should I play a game that is so similar to what I am playing? I already have a game that I enjoy. Only because of nicer graphics?" (btw he had similar comments about eq2 and lotro).
Still, I think advertisement is key. Nothing else. Only that most of target population already play WoW. And they don't want to play something so similar after years of WoW.
What characteristics of an MMORPG do you look at most?
